Reminder: Update your PC info for the next round of statistics updates

By - | Views: 13,506
This is your once a month reminder to make sure your PC information is correct on your user profiles. A fresh batch of statistics is generated on the 1st of each month.

You can see the statistics any time on this page.

While we don't currently have a drop-off implemented for old/stale data, it will be coming soon. If you want to make sure you're included at any time clicking update without any changes will update the last time you edited them.
The drop-off for old data will be done in months, since people aren't likely to change hardware that often. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

It would be interesting also to have an option to see trends over a period of time.

Would be nice if the profile page showed when last (perhaps both date and duration) the user's stats were updated. (E.g: Last updated: 25/11/2016, 1 month ago)

How often would you recommend updating?

Just make sure your info is up to date, and you won't have to worry about it. Maybe hit the update button every time you see one of these reminders even if nothing's changed.

I wish I had new hardware ;) Still waiting on (Ry)zen to see how it will impact the market.

Remark: maybe wait after people have spend their holiday money ? :) Might also be interesting to see the results a few months after Ryzen.

Under "Main gaming machine" you can choose between Desktop, Laptop and Sofa-PC. I think "Desktop with optional TV connection" and "Laptop with optional TV connection" should be added to that list. It's not unusual to connect the living room with a simple HDMI+USB combination, so that you can choose where you want to play. With the Steam Link and Steam Machines it is getting more common to do this.

"Do you dual-boot with a different operating system?"

You should add also new options. "Yes, other Linux" :D

Please add "Do you use a virtual machine for gaming?" and the options "No", "Yes", "Yes, with dedicated graphics card".
I'd also like to see clickable CPU and GPU types with links to ark.intel.com, products.amd.com and nvidia.com in "View PC info" next to a comment. A nice feature would also be a text field for the Motherboard.

You should consider getting a "passthrough VM" option in place/in addition of/to dual-boot.
