Rocket League is still coming to Linux, but there is no release date

Rocket League is still coming to Linux a developer has confirmed on reddit, but they have no idea when by the looks of it.

From reddit:
QuoteIt is coming. We don't have firm release dates for these versions of the game yet, but we are planning to release on SteamOS and Mac as soon as they are in good place. I'm really sorry about the delays and thank you for your patience so far!

Update: Here's more
QuoteTrust me, I want to give you guys as much info as I can, but I'm not at the liberty to do so at the moment. As soon as I can feed you guys information, I will.

It's really good to see it re-confirmed since a lot of people have been thinking it was dropped.

It was originally announced for Linux/SteamOS in August 2015. Then it was due out December 2015, then delayed until around February 2016, then we were told another 6-8 weeks, then it was moved to Q2 2016 and now we have no ETA. You can see the saga by searching for Rocket League in our little search box. We have been given quite the runaround on it, sadly it seems we will just have to keep waiting.

I really do wonder what is holding it up. As usual, my main issue is the developers lack of communication. A little honesty about things goes a long way for me.

About the game
Soccer meets driving once again in the long-awaited, physics-based sequel to the beloved arena classic, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars!

A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League®, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions, Rocket League® relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football. Frankly, at this point it's just insulting. I won't be purchasing until it goes on a heavy sale; why give them full support when they clearly aren't giving us full support?

I just want this on Linux already. Mostly because a friend will stop by at times and immediately want to play the game, and my Windows installation takes a while to boot up.
Well, at least they haven't dropped the port like some certain other developers. It's a fun game, and I'll be eagerly waiting on that Linux port to release.

Its a shame than they couldnt use UE4 for this game, so a linux version could come faster

Quoting: NyamiouThey've broken WINE support, you can't even play this game on WINE anymore

cross platform play with xboxone was added with the last update, you can't really blame them that the game doesn't work with wine anymore.

I was given a code for this game 6 months ago, I played it on Windows at Christmas with a Steam Link & controller on a big TV & it was loads of fun, not even sure I'll bother to install it if it finally arrives for SteamOS.

No but I can blame them for "Upcoming order: SteamOS -> Mac -> XB1" (https://twitter.com/RocketLeague/status/678008035684564993)

Another developer to avoid in the future, methinks. If I didn't get the game free with my Steam controller, I'd definitely not be buying it after this charade.
