Rocket League to get a tournament mode with a beta next month and more

Rocket League [Steam, Official Site], the game that I literally have to tear myself away from is to get a tournament mode which will go in beta this month.

In their recent news post, the developers Psyonix have put out their plans for Rocket League changes covering many months. There's quite a lot to look forward to and I'm certainly getting excited by it all.

Firstly, sometime this month they will put up a beta on Steam that includes their upcoming Tournaments Feature. This month they will also be adding in a new Crate, new RLCS fan rewards and the competitive Season 6 will end with Season 7 beginning. This should be due around February 7th.

In March, they will also be releasing a new "Licensed Premium DLC" along with a new seasonal event for Spring. It will be interesting to see what tie-in they have this time for the DLC, with previous licenses from Hot Wheels, Fast & Furious and more. I'm much more interested in the seasonal event, to see if they add any fun new items and maps to play with.

The tournaments feature will leave beta sometime in March/April along with the "Spring Feature Update". This update is a bigger one, with quality of life updates that includes item stacking, better item filtering and plenty more.

Lastly, April and beyond will see Cross-Platform Parties, so you can party up with people on other platforms, which is a really awesome idea, for those playing on Linux to team up with your less enlightened (a joke, don't hurt me) console friends. They will also attempt to make XP relevant again and allow you to earn Decryptors through playing the game. They're also teasing new arenas and other unnamed features.

You can see their new roadmap of what's to come here. There's a lot to look forward to for Rocket League fans, sounds like a good year ahead!

Hello! I'm new here and I'm a rocket league-aholic....

I've put in well over a thousand hours on rocket league. I would love to add some fellow linux gamers for a possible tourney or just for fun! Non-salty here!

warpig (on steam)

Thanks!

Quoting: 0aTTPS4 too?

Nobody knows yet, but sony has historically been very against any co-mingling; As it stands currently, if you're on steam and you see a PSYNET player, that player could either be a [ nintendo switch | xbox ] OR ps. As a ps user you can only match up against other ps, and steam users. So with that in mind, I'd say chances are high that sony won't opt in, but xbox and switch users will most likely be in on it. It's all speculation of course.

And we definitely need more RL events/tourneys =)

I have been wanting to find more Rocket League players who are interested in just fun private games (low gravity, rumble, dropshot, etc).

I don't know which warpig you are when I search on steam, but I am currently the lone TapocoL on steam for you or anyone else wanting to group up for Rocket League.

Quoting: Guestthe forever lack of controller rumble and the freeze-frame on the demolition really kill the experience.

Welp I can't help with the lack of rumble, but I fixed the demo freeze by changing my cpu governor from ondemand to performance while I play, I get zero freeze on demos with that setting.

EDIT: Since you talked about lowspec disadvantages too, I could mention that with a bit of tweaking of the ini file, turning down settings and such, you can get a pretty good framerate even on lowspec hardware, and it doesn't sacrifice much in terms of visuals either, if you're interested I can send you my ini file and you can test it / compare it.
