Rust the extremely succesful early access survival game on Steam has now hit well over 1 million purchases, they have also finally removed Zombies from the game.

Garry shared the news via twitter (although he still has us blocked, so I only found out thanks to people retweeting!).

Guess what just happened to Rust :0 https://t.co/k5sXk4f8k5

They have also as promised removed Zombies from the game, so Rust is no longer "yet another zombie survival game", it is more of a general survive the environment type of game now. It will be more interesting when they add in a lot more varied wildlife to mess about with.

It is still a little bare bones with not a great deal to do, so I am not sure what the big deal is with it, it offers up no tutorial so you are thrown into it without so much as a pat on the back. I am sure it will get a ton more content as time goes on, this is Facepunch we are talking about who still update Garrys Mod so many years after release.

lolwut, Garry blocked GOL? For talking back when he was running his mouth off? And now Rust has been #1 in the top ten Linux sales chart on Steam for weeks and Garry's Mod is constantly in the top ten as well? Those ungrateful Linux users!
Xpander Feb 11, 2014
last time linux users were just 0.4% of the sales anyway.

i like where the game is heading.. removed zombies, replacing modern weapons with handmade ones.

i dont really care about tutorial.. this game shouldnt have a tutorial
you are thrown into island and you have to start living on your own there.
thats what i like about the game..

they are giving us tools, we are making rules.

Yes he blocked GOL rather than have a discussion on what he was saying, it was to do with him showing off weekly sales numbers, Linux was really low - this is back when there was no release announcement, no Linux icon etc. He blocked GOL when I called him an idiot or something.

Well that 0.4% was still at least 1,000 people back in January, 1,000 Linux purchases they otherwise wouldn't have had :P

I imagine that is quite a bit higher now though, it will be interesting to see if they list their platform % again sometime.

Can't believe a guy like that can develop games. Thought it took brains for that.

you obviously don't know garry.. its pretty stupid to call him "idiot" or something.
he is what he is.. he complains about everything.. people got mad when he had troubles with ubuntu setup ....but he complains about everything.. doesnt matter what OS... people should not take him that seriously..

sry but i think that block was quite deserved.

I never said the block wasn't deserved and I don't regret calling him out on what he was saying. I took him too seriously though due to not realising that he does complain about literally everything (I've never followed him before).

Now let us move onto talking about the topic can we.

I respect Garry for supporting Linux given our market-share, same goes for any developer.

I am waiting to play Rust properly until there is more to do, doesn't seem like a lot right now :(

So he's a whiner and an idiot. Gotcha. People who can't put two and two together at his age are idiots. It's as simple as that. End of discussion.
