Seems like Feral Interactive may have a few surprises for Linux in 2020

By - | Views: 57,761

Porting studio Feral Interactive [Official Site] have already given Linux a lot of games and it sounds like more are coming.

While this year they've already released Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, a Vulkan beta for Shadow of Mordor, Total War: THREE KINGDOMS and DiRT 4 plus big updates/expansions to Company of Heroes 2 and Total War: WARHAMMER II. Still to come is Life is Strange 2, which Feral previously teased to arrive sometime soon.

After that, we already know Feral is porting Total War Saga: TROY but what about more games, is that the end of it for Linux? Going by their replies to people on Twitter, like this one "We may have a few Linux games planned for 2020... ;)" they seem to indicate there may be some surprises for us next year.

That's good news of course, since Steam Play/Proton was an obvious worry that they might stop porting. There's tons of games that are completely broken with Steam Play and plenty that perform really badly that Feral could certainly do their porting magic with. Actual support would be good too and Feral certainly know what they're doing.

What game would you like to see Feral port to Linux and support?

Hat tip to NuSuey.

Borderlands 3 for sure. GreedFall could interest me. Assassin's Creed Odyssey also sounds good. I would have said Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, but it got so cheap in the Autumn Sale that I went and got it for Proton.

And as always Horizon: Zero Dawn in the "it’s a beautiful dream" category

What do you think of Kingdom come: Deliverance ?
It's a very good game that Proton doesn't manage properly.
And don't tell me about the platinum rating with less than two hours of play: problems occur after the prologue.
A Vulkan port would be fantastic.

I would love to see any Codemasters game. They do a ton of them so they must sell/do well for them. I also love anything Star Wars.

* Grid (2019)
* Dirt Rally 2.0
* Borderlands 3
* Mechwarrior 5
* Jedi Fallen Order
* Command & Conquer Remastered

UPDATED: Added C&C Remastered

That's even better then what I have been able to achieve... It doesn't even start on my rigs (tried on 3 different hardware configs). Same for Soulcaliber VI. I'd expect Gold rated games to at least start ootb, but...

Is Scam Citizen even a game after all those years? or still a tech demo.

I would like to see Dirt Rally 2.0 but i bet it wont happen due to DLC hell it has, would be hard for Feral to keep up with day 1 DLC support later down the road.

Would someone please go ahead and port Dungeons & Dragons Online? It works great in Linux via Wine (once you jump through all the hoops).

I believe I am screaming into the void. I am probably the only person who actually likes this game and has a Linux OS.

I would love to get back into this game.

Okay. I've said my piece. It can be safely ignored.

Scroll away :)

Quoting: appetrosyanHonestly, any game that’s not in my steam/gog library. I’d buy it out of principle, comment that the reason why I bought the game was that it had native support. That being said, a game with prohibitive multiplayer software aka anti cheat would be a great option, mainly because these are the only ones you can’t play via proton.
I thought that about multiplayer too, but remember that Feral does NOT support crossplay with Windows on their Total War ports. So would it really be worth it if we got e.g. PUBG but could only play with other linux gamers?

Because the reason for TW games not supporting it does not lie with Feral.
