Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass [Official Site] from Croteam has me rather excited, it also has more information out and some fresh screenshots. Click the shots to make them bigger.

AAAAAAAAAAA!

Firstly, they're saying it's going to be a much bigger game with "huge environments populated with optional objectives, secrets and deadly ambushes". To be clear though, they do say it's not an open-world game, but the same linear experience as before. There will be plenty to shoot of course, with practically everything trying to kill you.

They've also now confirmed that the motorbike shown in the teaser trailer is actually something you will use. Not just that, they amusingly said you will be able to drive "a combine or even a bulletproof popemobile and drive your way through unfortunate enemy pedestrians".

On top of that, companions will be joining you directly in the game, not just cut-scenes. That sounds good, should be interesting for the co-op side of it!

Hopefully a proper trailer will be released soon!

That Russian word on the crane means "sunflower seeds" it's so weird. The graphics look even more detailed than before, truly badass. I guess this is exactly the type of games that would benefit greatly from using Vulkan, they could fill the screen with hundreds of enemies using all the cores efficiently.

QuoteNot a single desert level was created while making this game.
Wow, so there are people who hated those. I wonder why, they're cool once in a while for a change.

Now if we could have those NEW graphics migrate to the older games in Fusion it would be SERIOUSly huge!!!

ps AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I'm excited!!!!!

I like the look.
Looks so much more colorful than BFE.
I disliked BFE for looking too much like a modern shooter with washed out browns compared to the zany fun of previous games.
Hopefully this keeps the wacky and quirky feel of the first games.

The images look pretty good, but also very much staged. I have no doubt that these guys know how to make a Serious Sam game, but I still would like to see something that is taken from actual in game action.

This is practically the top new game release that I'm looking forward to, on Linux. This makes up for Doom and Shadow Warrior 2 not being on Linux.

Day one purchase, assuming the Linux release coincides with the Windows release. And I'm happy to trust that Croteam will do a fantastic job of it. Hey, I might even buy the T-shirt ;)

The images look awesome, and it'll be an instant buy for me when they release for Linux. Open world would have been so much more exciting though.

Quoting: GuestThere were too much desert levels in TFE and BFE. I would say that it was the major flaw of level design in these games - the levels became boring too fast due to similar design.

While I'm fine with desert levels, in my memory BFE (the only Serious Sam game I've ever played) consisted solely of desert levels.

Those graphics can't possibly be clean screenshots, they have to be brushed up a lot?

Pity that Devolver was more interested in doing awkward skits at their press conference than showcasing actual games. They didn't even bother to show the trailer for SS4 despite having said they'd give more info beyond those screenshots.

Yeah, and camera work in the Devolver conference was super wierd. It almost looked like the audience wasn't there. Super freaky.
