After the influx of news recently you will already know that Shadow of Mordor is heading to Linux thanks to Feral Interactive, and the game is so good it has managed to win the GDC Game of the Year award!
Source

It will arrive on Linux this Spring, but we don’t have a solid date confirmed just yet. When we know, you will know!

In a PR email David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive said this:
QuoteMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's immense scale, critical acclaim and well-deserved popularity with players make its release on Linux a major event. It is a monumental game, and we are thrilled to be bringing it to Linux gamers.

Feral will be releasing a mini-site for Shadow of Mordor on Linux when it's closer to the release date.

I have played it myself on a different platform, and I can easily tell why it has been given so many good reviews, as the game-play really is great.

After how well XCOM ran for me, and my glowing review of it, I have no doubt Feral Interactive will do us proud again this time around.

Finally, if you didn’t see it before; The winner of the Feral Penguins competition to win a copy of Shadow of Mordor was Hidekin from our very own website! Congratulations! You can see the official winner announcement from Feral here.

What an exciting time to be a Linux gamer! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: MaelraneI still don't think they'll use OGL 4, or has Mac support for it now? (I'm not an mac expert)
A quick googling reveals OS X has supported OpenGL 4.1 core profile since 10.9 Mavericks, released in 2013.

Not sure if they only want to support 10.9 tho. I mean, why did many of the last ports support "only" OpenGL 3(.3)?

AHH! I see! That makes more sense. I was trying to figure out how old of hardware you had to be limited to 3.3 I'll buy it either way more than likely, I just hope it runs well and is not horribly downgraded to make it playable if they choose to use such an outdated core profile. If I wanted to play downgraded games I would own a console. I still dual boot to play some more demanding titles because of my multi-gpu/multi-monitor gaming rig, but one day I hope Linux will support it and I wont need it anymore as games are the only thing installed on "that other partition" ^_^

I am hornswoggled at the sheer number (whatever it really is) of Linux games in the two short years since Steam for Linux came out. When it started, most all the games had already been released on various Humble Bundles. How that has changed. Crusader Kings 2 was the first true AAA Linux game Steam offered, and when Europa Universalis came out for all three platforms the same day, it was amazing to me.

Yes, they might not use the latest OpenGL versions. They still look great to me, and I've been depending on, shall we say, low-res games for so long (since '08) that I'm delighted beyond my wildest hopes to be able to play CIV V, Empire:Total War, X-COM, getting totally humiliated in Borderlands 2, and the raft of 90s games which have been cheap(you do, of course, get what you pay for).

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades. :D
