Six Wheels and a Gun Buggy Combat Game Needs Testing

By - | Views: 11,505
Abraham Stolk emailed us to request testing of Six Wheels and a Gun that he has ported over to Linux.

Six Wheels and a Gun looks like a wire-frame vehicle combat game originally on Android that has been ported to Linux, it's currently 64bit only so bear that in mind before downloading, it is using SDL2 so that is required to be installed before testing.

Download: http://stolk.org/Buggy/swaag-1.1-linux64.tar.gz

The developer is planning a commercial release on Itch.io if all goes well, so here's your chance for a sneak-peak before the official Linux release.

You can see a shot of it in action below:

You can visit the blog to keep up-to-date with development on it too, here.

I will point the developer here for comments on how it runs. Test away guys! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Thank you for testing!

Quoting: Quote from stanPlease don’t forget that not everyone uses a qwerty keymap (wasd doesn’t work everywhere.) Most games get at least some part of the keyboard controls wrong…

Currently, the game accepts both WASD and Cursor keys, so on French keyboards, you can still play the game with cursor keys.
I will look into XBox controller support as well.

Version 1.5 is up and adds:

  • full screen support (./swaag fs=1)

  • proper game speed at systems that run at 30fps.

  • new network protocol that should clamp down on round confusion.

The controls feel really clunky, having to click and drag to aim the turrent is very cumbersome, in addition to the turret controls being inverted it is quite painful.

Which is a shame because it looks like a really good game!
