Some more site updates today, various sections changed

By - | Views: 10,437
Some minor changes put up on GOL today, these changes were done based on feedback from various users to make it easier.

User statistics
- Once a month (around the 25th) a cron is run to auto-generate an article reminding people to keep their PC info up to date.
- If you haven't updated your PC info in over 4 months, a reminder will show on the homepage (it won't show if you've never done it).

Notifications
- The Notifications page now allows you to remove all read notifications.
- You can also just outright remove all notifications in your list.
- You can individually remove notifications using the little cross at the end (so you save some for later), they will do a quick fade and then be removed.
- The notifications list now has headers for new and read notifications. Hopefully with lots this will help keep it organised some more.

Other
- You can now submit your own events to the livestream events page.
- The Dark Theme for "GOL Supporters" ($5+ on Patreon) has a bunch of colouring fixes (dark theme may be rolled out to all if Patreon supporters are okay with it, have to poll them)
- Forum search can now be done in all forums or on a specific forum (new dropdown at the bottom of the search section)

Still to do
- Allow you to ignore a user and not see their comments and forum posts (that's further down the line, likely early next year as lots has to be changed for it).
- Allow you to completely wipe your PC info if you no longer wish to do it.

I want to end the year on a high, with as much done as possible! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

[BUG] The paging on notifications does notting at all

Quoting: MyeulCLiam, I just thought about something, and will test-spam you a bit with the like button, as I can't do it on myself. I wonder if it makes notifications pile up.
It won't, if you remove a like it will remove the notification row for it.

Will look into it, worked when I tried it before.

Tested this in both FF and Chrome, works fine for me.

Does it not work for anyone else?

I did not really understand what "Paging" was supposed to mean, but everything seems to work for me. The notification icon is in place (unless zoomed on portrait/mobile), the notifications are displayed correctly in the list, I can dismiss them by clicking the blue cross (box on mobile for me), and they are marked as read when I click them. I have some other usability issues, though, but I think I already bothered Liam enough with that :D

For those who don't understand the term, this is the pager;

changing pages causes the url to change and a new page to load.

The problem is that the page is identical,

Currently I've 1 unread notification and a whole pile of read ones - this gives my notification area 3 pages how ever the "&page=3" bit of the URL changes I still see the same 1 unread notification and the same X read.

Presumably the idea here is that you could bring up the older ones - this for me at least does not currently work

That's what happened for me as well on Firefox. Can't test if it's fixed as I clean up notifications as soon as I've seen them.

Ah sorry about that, the pagination should now be fixed for all.
