SpeedRunners is a rather popular Early Access multiplayer running game that pits 4 players against each other. There's been a lot of people asking for a Linux version, and they have begun to deliver.

QuoteIt has been a long wait but it's finally here! We'll be running an open beta for Mac and Linux the coming month or so.
If you are interested in participating you can activate the 'platform' beta.

Go to SpeedRunners in your Steam library > Right click SpeedRunners > Properties > 'BETAS' tab > Select 'Platform' there > 'LOCAL FILES' tab > Verify integrity of game cache...

If you have problems with the Mac or Linux build, post below here mentioning which OS you're using and a log file is always helpful.

The log file on Mac can be found at ~/Library/Application Support/SpeedRunners/SpeedRunnersLog.txt
The log file on Linux can be found at ~/.local/share/SpeedRunners/SpeedRunnersLog.txt

Enjoy!

See their forum post on it here.

About the game (Official)
In a city filled with superheroes, getting to crimes becomes a competition on its own. Fortunately there are enough rockets, bombs, grappling hooks, spikes, and other goodies lying around -- to make the competition fun and fast. Welcome to SpeedRunners.

SpeedRunners is a 4 player competitive platformer with grappling hooks, power-ups, and interactive environments. Run, jump, swing around, fire rockets, grapple onto people to knock them off screen. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This game is great for couch and online multiplayer. Totally worth it!

I have this game for a long time already, I bought it when I was only using Windows, and it is great BUT only has 4 different stages/tracks/maps which makes the game VERY repetitive. I know it's early access and they've been working making it better though they need more maps ASAP. It's great to play for an hour once a month or so but not more I'm afraid.

Quoting: Arehandoroonly has 4 different stages/tracks/maps.

Hmm the last time I played (a couple days ago) the game had more than 4 stages, and also community-created content (Steam Workshop), so the possibilities are infinite now :)

I didn't know there was Steam Workshop content, I will check it out tonight. Do you have beta selected or something similar? I played last week too and I was able to play only in 4 maps :/
