SteamWorld Heist is the follow up title to the indie hit SteamWorld Dig. A very different game, but it has the charm of the original and then some.

As far as introductory videos go, SteamWorld Heist has a brilliant one. A retro themed (and very Fallout sounding) quick introduction to what happened. It's short, sweet and to the point.

I absolutely love strategy games, especially when they try to do something interesting. SteamWorld Heist has you ducking for cover taking turns like you might expect, but you directly control the weapons aiming for all sorts of weird and wonderful shots. Bouncing a bullet off a wall and into a bots head is extremely satisfying, especially when it knocks their hat off.

I cannot overstate how awesome it feels to connect a shot when you're over the other side of the screen, yet you managed to bounce it off a ceiling to get a headshot.

The selection of guns you can buy or obtain from swag is pretty decent too. Handguns, automatics, shotguns and more. All behave very differently too, it has been seriously fun trying them out and watching all the bullets cause hell when I misfire.

If I had to compare it to something, I would say it's like playing a game of Worms in space with robots, oh and it actually has a story.

I do love the fact that you're able to walk around your ship to do a little exploring, so it's not entirely about the combat. You can chat to crew members to hear their stories, one amusing one about a Whale made me chuckle a bit.

Buying items from the shop could have been nicer, a simple comparison to what you're currently using for weapons would have made some choices easier. Instead of opening the inventory and memorising the stats to then compare manually. Equipping items does at least give you a comparison, so it's not all bad.

The soundtrack by Steam Powered Giraffe is fantastic too, certainly made me go look them up after playing it.

Bullet bouncing strategy at its loveliest. What's not to love about western styled robots having shootouts in space? This is one game I'm going to happily play lots of.

Go check it out, the Linux version seems absolutely solid to me. It currently has 100% good feedback and the reviews all seem legitimate too, so that's nice.

Looks fabulous, and I liked SW Dig as well. This shoots straight to my wishlist top five.

Awesome game. Looks great, plays great (provided you're into turn-based tactics), runs great. Highly recommended.

Playing it for two days now and absolutely love it. It's party-based and after each mission you can chit-chat with the crew. That gives me some Bioware vibes and that's good. The game also has an xcom-like turns. You can either run a bit and then shoot or you can run farther and not be able to shoot. Some actions consume half of turn (like collecting swag), some don't (like opening doors and hatches). As in XCom some weapons require you not to move at all to be able to use it (sniper and laser sight weapons) and you see the trajectory beforehand for grenades and lasers.

The game has a perfect controller support (unlike XCom 2) and I suggest you to play it on it if you have one. It's also quite long, about 12-20 hours as I read. After completing it I plan to get their other game about digging.

I want this game just for steampunk and the Steam Powered Giraffe cameo.

The game looks fun indeed! Hope it will eventually make it DRM free to GOG.com or the Humble store as well.
