Stellaris: Utopia, the first major expansion is now up for pre-order

While I usually don't like pre-orders, Paradox is certainly a developer worthy of it. Since we know this will have no problems with Linux support. Stellaris: Utopia [Official Site] is a massive expansion too, I can't wait!

Note: You can only pre-order it from Paradox directly.

It will release in full on April 6th, so not long to wait! For what it offers, £14.99 seems like a pretty reasonable price to me, any higher and I think it would have been too much.

New features:
  • Megastructures: Build wondrous structures in your systems including Dyson Spheres and ring worlds, bringing both prestige and major advantages to your race.

  • Habitat Stations: Build “tall” and establish space stations that will house more population, serving the role of planets in a small and confined empire.

  • Ascension Perks: Collect Unity points and adopt Traditions to unlock Ascension Perks that allow you to customize your empire in unique ways. Follow one of the three Ascension Paths and achieve Biological Mastery, give up your biological forms in a Synthetic Evolution, or unlock the full psionic potential of your species through Transcendance.

  • Indoctrination: Influence primitive civilizations and make them adopt your ethics through the use of observation stations, preparing them for enlightenment or annexation.

  • Advanced Slavery: Maximize the benefits of slavery by choosing specific roles for enthralled species. Have them serve other Pops as Domestic Servants, fight for your empire as Battle Thralls, or keep them as Livestock to feed your people.

  • Advanced Governments: Adopt unique civics and authorities for your government. Play as a Fanatic Purifier and shun all diplomacy, become a Hive Mind to avoid political strife or create a multi-species empire born of Syncretic Evolution.

TcheyEven now with several patch, i feel the game is quickly empty. I played a few games, only one to "completion", and then i thought "why should i play again ?". Maybe this first expansion will change my mind.

Had the same feeling when I played several matches with the latest patch. Too generic, too dump sector ai, too less late-game.
I got all the other DLCs as I really like the game. I believe I will also get that.
Nevertheless I have the feeling that during game development the whole concept was not worked out properly. That's why a lot of content is missing.

I recently discovered the Star Trek conversion mod. Looks so great.

I like the game itself, but the late game lag make each session ultimately disappointing.
I do not believe I have finished a single game because at some point the ingame "days" (which are normally a second in real time) take about 10 seconds at highest acceleration. And periodically the game just freezes.
Do not feel like buying any DLCs until they fix this.
