Supergiant Games now have Bastion, Transistor and Pyre up on itch.io

Posted by , | Views: 5,861

Supergiant Games did something awesome today, as they've put all three of their older games up on itch.io with Bastion, Transistor and Pyre.

Fantastic to see another highly regarded games developer and their games up on itch, they're all awesome games too and I finally got around to playing through Pyre recently and as expected the quality of it was incredible. Since I'm writing about it, you can rest assured that all three games on itch also have their Linux versions up with no delay.

Regarding their latest game, Hades, while it is currently exclusive to the Epic Store, Supergiant Games did seek to clarify again that it will come to other stores in a Twitter post:

We're focused on a single version of Hades while the game is in Early Access. It's available on the Epic Games store for now and will come to other platforms once Early Access is complete.

Store pages:

I hope more developers eventually get their games up on itch, the itch team may be small but they really do some fantastic work for developers. Their client is optional and open source too, so that's a bit of a bonus.

I wish I enjoyed Pyre but I just couldn't get past the inherent sportsiness of it, alas. Perhaps I should give it another go one of these days, 'cause I still love Bastion and Transistor.

Lutris might be working on it, I wonder if that wouldn't be a solution.

Ideally, I could just point clients at my nextcloud webdav server (or NAS/sshfs/NFS/dropbox/drive/rsync+inotify/etc), if bandwidth and disk space are what's keeping such services from offering cloud syncs.

I never finished Bastion and Transistor. They both have beautiful craft in them, but for some reason they were the kind of game that when I put down I just never felt like picking back up. Love Pyre, though. It taught me that I could enjoy sports games, I just need them to happen outside the mundane world of sports :B

How I wish Itch had regional prices...

I recommend all of them. Bastion is maybe the most generic of them but the gameplay was decently executed and the art (both graphical and audio) was good. Transistor's gameplay mechanics were unique and interesting with a lot of variety. Pyre has the best characters and story of them all and the best soundtrack, but may take a little bit of time to get over the fantasy basketball aspect.

Fantasy basketball, huh? So, not like ordinary mundane Regular Human Basketball then?
