SuperTuxKart 0.7 release candidate 1

By - | Views: 10,345
QuoteAfter a burst of changes and fixes in the last few days we have finally released a first release candidate for 0.7: http://sourceforge.net/projects/supertuxkart/files/SuperTuxKart/0.7/
The changes compared to 0.6.2a are too numerous to list, main points would be:
      New graphics engine
      New GUI
      Kart and track animations
New and improved tracks, karts, and items
      Shortcut/alternative way support for tracks

Compared to 0.7alpha3 challenges, unlocking etc. should all work now (though there is still a debug icon in the menu, which will be removed before the final release  ).
The one thing missing are translations - since we added strings even in the last week, the translations are not up-to-date yet. If you want to help out with translations have a look at our wiki page: we are basically using launchpad, details are at http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Translating_STK.

Thanks for linking the video! The video is not so random with the intended page http://linuxgamecast.com/2010/12/l-g-c-ep07-—-supertuxkart-0-7-rc1-first-look/ :D

You might care to give my friends at Ubuntu Gamer some credit for noting the PPA repo :)
Cheers,

As posted on reddit (really again no need to comment twice).

The jist of my comment - I won't credit UG for 2 lines of code to add a ppa, anyone on Ubuntu generally knows how to do that.

Anyway i removed it as we are a general site not just Ubuntu related, i shouldn't have listed the ppa in the first place.

Also I forgot to link to your site as a source for the video, added it below the video for you :)

I can dig that, kudos!

Glad Felix included the F12 in M.A.R.S. I bugged him about the multiple resolution option. He delivered so I made a quick and dirty overview video http://linuxgamecast.com/2010/12/l-g-c-b-reel-%E2%80%94-m-a-r-s-0-6-1-alpha/

Throw that in if you like it.

Cheers,
Venn
