It has been reported that if you are not in the Steam Beta but using the workaround to still run Steam that Team Fortress 2 is now available to install!

This great free to play shooter should satisfy the needs of a lot of FPS gamers using Linux worldwide so go grab it now!

So this should be good news for a lot of you - not for me though since the latest AMD beta drivers won't run Steam... Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Heh, you went from optirun to AMD? I'm not sure that's an improvement...

Also, I thought valve said the latest beta drivers from AMD themselves (not the ones in the repo) were supposed to work? Do they not?

On topic: That's amazing if true. Pity I'm at work :(

This and L4D2 and I'm set for multiplayer games completely (since KF is already there). Now for some proper RPGs...

Some observations after playing for a bit:
Weird font issues, like some letters and numbers not appearing, the killboxes being empty, etc.
Terrible loading times, even worse than under wine.
Fine performance, didn't see much of a difference.
The overlay works!
Could Alt+Tab out of the game without even going to the overlay, but some weird issues were cause by this.
Could control the sound while in game! Finally!
The download hanged at 99%, then I had to again select Play for it to download that last bit. Then it worked.
No music, but the sound works.

All-in-all, it's fairly playable, for a beta!

I can't wait till Valve officially releases Steam for Linux with a bunch of optimized games. It will be spectacular. Perhaps they will even see server issues like they do during holiday sales! I myself play a lot of Team Fortress 2 on Windows 7 so this is only making the deal sweeter for me.

terrible loading times happen only for first match. rest goes pretty fast, even tho the map is different.
no music indeed, i thought the game doesnt have one :D (its been long time since i last played it with wine)
i dont have font issues however.
the download hanged for me at 4,5GB mark, had to restart steam client and then it went to finish without a issue.
performance is really good (multicore rendering yeeehaaw!)

Thanks for giving your ideas here. The other matter is that when a problem arises with a laptop or computer motherboard, persons should not have some risk associated with repairing that themselves because if it is not done correctly it can lead to permanent damage to the entire laptop. It's usually safe just to approach a dealer of any laptop for any repair of motherboard. They've technicians with an know-how in dealing with pc motherboard troubles and can carry out the right analysis and undertake repairs. best wishes
