STRAFE [Steam, Kickstarter] looks fantastic as an FPS and a throwback to some retro shooters, but sadly it has seen a delay. I reached out to the publisher Devolver Digital to ask about the Linux release as it wasn't mentioned in the announcement.

When asking if "PC" meant Windows in the recent announcement, or if they were including Linux in that and here's the reply:

QuoteSTRAFE will hit PC via Windows and Mac, at least first.

I did additionally ask if there was any release date now set for the Linux version:

QuoteNot at the moment, no.

STRAFE was funded on Kickstarter with $207,847 pledged to make this retro throwback FPS happen. I'm really excited to play it, so hopefully we don't get let down.

I created an account here just because of this comment. I would like to know what real gaming is. I think I might have been doing it wrong.

I was wondering that too. For 597 hours I thought I was playing Counter Strike, but it turns out I was just baking a cake !

Yeah, fanatics like you always exist so i'm not surprised.
Just to make something very clear. Linux is and always will be my primary platform for anything.

"Real gaming" can be anything. Linux has plenty of high quality games now.

I own a PS4 because the girlfriend purchased one at release and I picked up mine a good while before Linux gaming got serious. My PS4 has become nothing more than a Netflix box. I own a Switch again, due to family, but sure I'm gonna play it since we have it.

Don't use me to boost up silly arguments.

I'm not trying to use you. That was a simple example that comes to my mind.

You don't want to agree but we're in a really bad situation.Look at the articles you wrote. Most of the populated comments are revolving under via Wine news.Real gaming evolving around Windows and other populated platforms. Not Linux

I think we're in a great situation.

Valve has hired a bunch of people to work on drivers, we got more big ports last year than we ever did before and the trend is set to continue.

I, personally, don't. I play games that are available. I'm guessing those aren't real games?

Quoting: Leopardgetting access to AAA games via in house ports and at the first day
So, indie games and/or ports aren't real games either?

Quoting: Leoparddon't have to worry about port qualities
I would argue that this is an issue on all platforms . Also, I don't see how this affects the 'realness' of me playing the games.

Quoting: Leopardnot try to be considering as a viable platform instead of becoming one.
Linux already is a viable gaming platform. It just has a smaller library than other platforms. Again, why does this affect the 'realness' of the games?

I get that you don't find the games available on Linux adequate, but to make such a broad statement that playing video games on Linux isn't real gaming kind of rubs me the wrong way.

I just wish Valve used login and gametime stats instead of a silly survey. A survey that's rare on Linux but almost monthly on Windows.

Their methods are hurting Linux gaming as it can scare away new and existing developers and publishers.

Ah, Leopard is just being Leopard. He gets ranting about the lack of AAA games every so often.

One more data point: I have owned several consoles in the past. I only play on Linux now. These "not real games" that folks are mentioning seem to keep me pretty busy. Over 300 of them, personally.

I agree with this!

Of course we are when we look at the past but is that enough to catch gaming market attention?I doubt it

Sadly, all i said above is happening. Not to you maybe or for a bunch of people but it is happening.

And when you once get into that circle you realized you're not so into gaming after all.Because you're trying to keep up with possible ports, api's,Wine like solutions. That is not 'real' gaming if you ask me. When all games served at your feet and you don't have to worry about api, quality of port etc. gaming starts to matter more

Just my thoughts,i'm not intend to offend anyone.

This "OH NOES, STEAM SURVEY SAYS LINUX PERCENTAGE IS DROPPING, DOOM AND GLOOM NOW!" stuff sure is entertaining.

You're right ,it is not entertaining but that is a fact and one of logical reasons about this lack of some games and cancelled ports or Linux version promised but cancelled Kickstarter games.
