The Book Of Unwritten Tales 2 Officially Released, It's Awesome!

After a brief Early Access period, The Book Of Unwritten Tales 2 has been released along with the previously unseen fifth chapter of the game.

Since September, the game had been in Early Access which was quite an unusual move for an adventure game. However, the approach of releasing a chapter once a month to allow for play testing and bug squashing is quite a clever move from a small developer who might not have the money to splash out on long QA periods.

I have to say, I absolutely loved the game - even more so than the prequel. It’s easily one of the best adventure games I have ever played and quite possibly the funniest, which is quite an achievement considering the genre’s association with humour.

All in all this is a must have for any point-and-click fan, from the beautiful artwork to the great pop-culture references and fun side-quests, this game is a real gem. I couldn’t really find any flaws with this game, aside from a few bugs during the Early Access period which should be gone by now and even they were pretty minor.

With the release, both the original BoUT and Critter Chronicles are on sale at 75% off on Steam and are also worth picking up if you don’t have them already. I would say the new game doesn’t require playing either and can be easily enjoyed as a standalone experience, but if you want to get more familiar with the characters (and also enjoy another great adventure game) I would suggest getting the original too, with Critter Chronicles being far more optional.

You can get The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 DRM-free on GOG.com or on Steam, or you can support GOL by buying it on Games Republic.

Official About:

Legend foretold it. Prophecies predicted it. Chosen ones chose to believe in it. Now the adventure saga continues. A sequel is coming. Join Wilbur, Ivo, Nate and Critter in another classic point-and-click adventure in the wicked world of Aventásia. Help them fulfill their destiny. A destiny as yet unwritten. About the author -
After many years of floating through space on the back of a missile, following a successful career in beating people up for not playing Sega Saturn, the missile returned to earth. Upon returning, I discovered to my dismay that the once great console had been discontinued and Sega had abandoned the fight to dominate the world through 32-bit graphical capabilities.

After spending some years breaking breeze blocks with my head for money and being mocked by strangers, I have found a new purpose: to beat up people for not playing on Linux.

I'm really looking forward to playing it, unfortunately GOG still hasn't got the Linux version up. :(

But check out the nice German retail version, which seems to include the Linux port right there on the Disc: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00LL43MXG/adventuretref-21

That's pretty cool! Had no idea there was a boxed version. The UK one does too apparently:

I wonder if for the Linux and OSX versions they just provide a Steam key though....

Yeah, I'm not sure either, it doesn't really say anything specific in the text.

These games are easily some of the best point-and-clicks made the last decade. I've only played the first couple of chapters of this one so far, but I already love it. Can't wait to check out the rest.

Well I am a point-and-click fan. After having played most of the Telltale games, grim fandango and currently Fahrenheit indigo prophecy, I guess I will take a look to this game (the first one, It has been on my library for a while).

If anyone of you start playing it, consider first playing critter chronicles, after that the first unwritten tails and than unwritten tales 2 (which contains many references to the first parts and associated jokes which you may find more enjoyable if you played the first parts).

That is one imaginative trailer to say the least! Better than those trashy trailers for AAA games you see all the time for sure.

In all honesty, before seeing the trailer, I was skeptical at your fondness for it. After watching it, you're spot on! That trailer is fantastic.

At least now the headline claims Windows + Mac + Linux, and I see Linux minimum requirements.
Just not sure if it would run on my old GS9600M :(

The trailer looks hilarious and sexy :D
One question,is a must to play the previous versions or are not related with the books of unwritten tales 2?
