ASTROKILL [Steam] is a game focused on combat without compromising realism and it looks graphically amazing. If you have a beefy computer, the developer is seeking testers.

Speaking on the Steam forum, the developer said:
QuoteI just got the engine upgraded, which means I can finally do a Linux build. If there are any volunteers, I am willing to give out some keys to anyone with a hefty Linux machine.

What has captured my interest, is that the game is inspired by TIE Fighter and Freespace 2. Freespace 1&2 are what I consider two of the best space shooters ever, seriously I love them. So I'm pretty keen on giving this a go myself.

About the game
QuoteFocused on combat without compromising realism, ASTROKILL is a modern space shooter drawing inspiration from old-school games like TIE Fighter and Freespace 2. Players pilot fighters, gunships, interceptors, and medics (in 1st or 3rd person) from warring factions in ballistic dogfights. Wage war flying for either the sprawling Dominion of Man or the rebellious Outer Belt Alliance!

In the world of ASTROKILL, kinetic weapons dominate the battlefield. Deliver destruction with machine guns, flak cannons, homing missiles and rail guns. You will wipe out entire squads and bring down frigates in glorious explosions. But, be wary of camping interceptors, homing space-mines, and ace-pilots. To succeed in this unforgiving zero-G battlefield, you must master your ship and its weapons. You will blow away spaceships with machine guns, flak cannons, homing missiles, and rail guns.

It's currently in Early Access, so it's not finished.

Thanks for the email Jan and Viejito for the Twitter reminder to actually post this live, woops!

liamdaweKeep in mind guys you need to post in their linked Steam forum post, not here
I think people continue posting their specs here to brag.

I posted in the steam thread as well, though it is pretty well flooded with specs. I wonder if I could be of special help, since I have controllers... lots and lots of controllers. I could even test if an Atari Jaguar controller would work...

Either to brag, or they can't read, or only read enough for their brain to process "free key" and then don't read further. Which is why I really, really hope that whoever the dev chooses are actually interested in helping, not just playing.
I also think this is a clever way to do two things: 1) to gauge how strong the market is, basically how is the high specs Linux customer base looking right now (better than I thought myself, actually), and 2) Get some good marketing. How many more people went to their Steam site to post there who wouldn't have otherwise just reading the press release? I know I certainly did.

I think this looks fantastic, and there isn't much on Linux like it. I bet it'll do really well.

Nice. Has anyone heard back after expressing interest? Exciting time for space games on Linux. :-)

QuoteI just uploaded the first Linux build. For anyone that already has the game, it should automatically download (if you're on a Linux machine). I have a batch of Beta keys to give out as well. PM me and I'll send you a key. Bear in mind, this is the first Linux build and it's entirely untested. I'm hoping it just works without a hitch, but that's rarely the case... If you already PM'd me, please do so again (Steam's chat system is pretty clunky).

Well, there you have it.

Ooooh, shiny. Well, not yet for me. Had to try it out, and:

radeonsi: cannot read an ELF shader binary
LLVM failed to compile shader

But there is a GNU/Linux build there!
