The End of the Sun is very pretty looking first-person exploration and adventure game set in the world of Slavic rites, beliefs, legends, and their everyday life. A story inspired primarily by Slavic mythology and legends, they said that the game "is inspired by both adventure and exploration games with unorthodox riddles to solve, but the story-line is in the first place here".

Currently in development with a Linux version firmly planned, the team has already spent almost three years working on it and they're planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign sometime soon. As a bit of a taster, they've made a brand new teaser you can see below:

Before the Kickstarter goes live, they've said they will also be doing a full 20-minute long gameplay video to really give a good idea of what to expect from it with developer commentary too.

Personally, I've been quite excited to see some proper footage from this, especially after they showed off how they were developing it early last year with another teaser. Their way of using photogrammetry, to produce accurate and high-quality models is quite impressive. They visited special ethnographic museums to scan tons of objects, buildings and more to hopefully give what they say is "the most European Slavonic climate possible". From what the Game Direct, Jakub Machowski, sent over today these are some other features that are going to be in it:

  • Travel in time – teleport between four periods far away from each other by many years, set in four main seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter). Get to know the stories of the same heroes at different stages of their lives.
  • Dynamic world, weather conditions, lighting – the time of day, weather and lighting change smoothly and dynamically within one day in front of your eyes as you discover other parts of the mystery.
  • Consequences of time travelling – certain elements of history and the world around you will open up to you only when you set the paths of fate and influence the future. Events from the past have an impact on the future.
  • Slavic World, its culture and daily activities – While experiencing the story, you will be able to enjoy not only the immersive history, but also look at the long-forgotten everyday activities and objects that are no longer used today.
  • Open world exploration – Travel between the homesteads and surroundings of the village, finding out the details of the mystery that lies somewhere there.

  • Non-linear and engaging story – You can experience particular immersive stories at your own pace and at the moment you feel like it.

Once their campaign goes live, we will let you know. Until then, you can follow/wishlist on Steam.

Always nice to see good graphics coming to Linux!

Reminds me somewhat of the Vanishing of Ethan Carter, because of the photogrammetry and open world exploration.
The description makes it sound really interesting. I hope it does well, so it's in a spirit of constructive criticism that I note they should consider fixing the grammar of the last bit of their teaser; "Became to fade" is not correct or normal usage.
