The excellent and tricky platformer Slime-san is to get a level editor

By - | Views: 4,802

Slime-san is an excellent example of how to do a simple-looking platformer, filled full of awesome content and some quite difficult levels. After getting a few free expansions it's now getting a level editor.

For those that missed it, back in July it was updated to the "Slime-san: Superslime Edition" which added in more new levels, a colour-switching mode and a character who can't jump at all. That's on top of the three previous content expansions, which are all free (you can buy them individually too). So now it has literally hundreds of levels! It also has competitive local multiplayer mini-games and many other features.

Now, they've announced a level editor is coming and they've confirmed to me that it will work on Linux too.

The level editor will have around 75% of the tiles, enemies, hazards and so on available to use from the full game and you will be able to share them for others to play. From what they said, it looks like sharing and playing levels is integrated directly into the game, so hopefully no need to grab them manually.

You can pick up a copy from Humble Store and Steam, highly recommended if you love platformers. Honestly, it's one of the most surprising platformers I've played in some time.

This game has been an absolute delight to play even without all the added stuff. I love devs who, when they meet success, give back royally to their community.
