I was impressed by Avorion [Steam], very impressed. It's one game I'm considering getting us a server for when it's a little further along and this huge update is impressive.

As the name of the update may suggest, you can now form your own Alliance with other players. They work like a faction in the game with their own money, resources and an inventory. You can give various ranks to members of your alliance, you're visible to each other on the map and you can even co-pilot a ship with another member of your alliance.

They've also worked on the Steam Workshop support, with them claiming it's now complete. Ships can be uploaded and shared and you can subscribe to ship designs in the workshop too.

One awesome new block is the flight recorder, so it will mark your ships location when it died, if you need to go back and finish the job.

They've worked to improve performance of the UI, the online servers should be dramatically improved with better networking performance and better overall memory performance.

See the full patch notes here. It's really damn huge! If you haven't checked it out and you're usually a fan of spaceship building, do check it out. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'll be honest , I'm more tempted by the single player , and I hope they have a good story/campaign mode.

Won't say no to a GOL clan though :)

Reminds me of Limit Theory, game appearance wise. Yes that game is still being developed but instead of being a 2-3yr project it looks like it might end up being a 10yr one since the dev has early schizophrenia or something (at least following his logs, that appears to be the case)
