Searching through the gold mine of bizarre, slightly weird and downright surreal games buried on itch.io I recently came across the free adventure exploration game The Good Time Garden.

You explore a "throbbing pink world full of strange naked creatures" with "frame-by-frame, hand drawn animation and an original soundtrack" and if that doesn't make you thoroughly curious I'm not sure what will. The Good Time Garden is scary, not in a horrific jump-scare kind of way but the kind that makes you feel ever so slightly uncomfortable yet it's so hilariously weird that you can't stop.

It was certainly…unique. Not something I would say to play around a younger generation, it might look all colourful and inviting but it was quite crass. Talk of being moist, slapping what looks like boobs coming out of the ground and all sorts of creepy suggestive things. Great though, would love to see a fully expanded game in this universe because it's so outlandish.

You can grab it free for Linux on the itch.io page. The Linux version is not currently on Steam.

The style reminds an intro to Moonwalkers.

I love itch.io. It's where all the cool artsy and intellectual kids hang out drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes, and talking revolution.
