The Humble Dystopian Bundle is out with some nice Linux games included

Posted by , | Views: 4,637

For those of you after some fresh games, The Humble Dystopian Bundle is out and it includes a couple good Linux titles.

For the PWYW (Pay what you want) tier you will get Beholder and Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You. If you pay more than the current average then Orwell: Ignorance is Strength is yours.

And finally, if you pay for the top tier you will get >observer_ which is a personal favourite of mine. Great graphics, a story that kept me truly on edge and it really did leave a lasting impression.

Check out the The Humble Dystopian Bundle here.

That might not seem like a lot of titles, however, there's a few titles included that aren't on Linux. These are Tokyo 42, Distrust, Rain World and 60 Seconds! (which has a Linux beta).

All of those work in Steam Play, although not all to a "Platinum" level.

I quite pleased with fact there is a lot of DRM-FREE stuff this time. Tokyo, Orwell, Rain World. Humble laely got quite "steam-obsessed" so seeing this bundle is good news. Would be happy if rain World have be both linux-compatible and Drm-free, but oh well.

PatolaAnd of course there is also the Warhammer Humble Bundle (gamingonlinux partner link) for those who can't be satisfied with just Total War: Warhammer II. ;)
Games:
- Dawn of War III: native!
- Dawn of War I: runs via Steam Play, needs some tweaks to get to 1920x1080;
- Vermintide: runs via Steam Play
- Blood Bowl: runs via Steam Play
- Battlefleet Gothic Armada: runs via Steam Play
- Space Marine Collection: does not run via steam play, but runs smoothly under Lutris or PlayonLinux with wine-staging.
- Talisman: this one I did not test (I don't like card games), but it seems to run without music via Steam Play according to ProtonDB.

Battlefleet Gothic buggers up on one level, meaning it can't be completed.
Space Marine crashes out soon as an enemy is killed. Unless that's fixed of late.
I played about an hour of Space Marine and killed lots of enemies, so I don't think this bug persists.
Have you got further reference on the Gothic Armada level that hinders completion of the game? Can't see it mentioned anywhere.

So I know this is getting offtopic, but anyway....
Maybe it's a wine-staging thing of late? Space Marine used to work fine, but not anymore. I stopped using wine-staging and mostly stick to wine-vanilla-git these days. There's a reason I turned off wine-staging, but maybe I can give it a go again later.

Battlefleet Gothic would get to the Ork Space Hulk level, but nothing would show. Wouldn't really crash, so much as nothing of the level was rendered, including enemy vessels.

N30NLiam, please disclose that GOL profits from such links in future articles (or at lease a "sponsored" tag). I'm very thankful for all you do but the shock of seeing GOL below the charity almost made me do something rash.

That's right above the "for spelling, grammar and other corrections" text. Has been ever since affiliates started.
(--edit: thought I'd jump in before Liam)

Right you are, my bad. In my defence the small text, plus the placement after the like & bookmark buttons makes it easy for the eyes to jump over. Also I apologies for not using the other other corrections link for reporting this non issue.

FaugnRain World... Another failed Kickstarter. It's because of projects like this I don't back games anymore.
For now, I've added it to our Crowdfunding list page as a Fail. I've also emailed the developer directly to see if we can find out why well over a year later + a Linux stretch goal it seems to still not be on Linux.

Can i suggest Maia game and War For the Owerworld? Both have linux support.
