The latest HITMAN Elusive Target is now live on Linux

HITMAN [Steam, Feral Store] has been updated again with another Elusive Target that's available to attempt for the next few days.

As usual, Feral Interactive have kept the Linux version on-par with the Windows version, so we have access to the latest target right away. This is one of the last three special targets for the first season of HITMAN.

I will probably give it a go later tonight, as I really do love doing them. I know it's an issue for some people, so hopefully they will release some sort of bundle pack with all of them together, maybe it will be a good way for them to gather up hype for a second season to do so?

You can find out more about this target in the announcement post.

Highly recommend it if you haven't purchased it already, one of my favourite games available on Linux without a doubt. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I actually managed to succeed on the last elusive target, though I failed to get silent assassin. I hope I can silent assassin this target.

Let me abuse this occasion to ask something...

I started to play some Hitman last weekend, and I still wonder how I would enjoy it. I played the first training mission doing most of the tasks. But hey, it's not hard to place explosives at a place you know your target will be going to - because he went there every single time you already tried the mission! It feels so unrealistic, so unsatisfying.

Then I tried the last exam, and there are these "occasions" (or whatever they are called in the English). When enabling occasion display fully, I feel I'm just icon hunting. Having enabled them minimally, I didn't find the airplane hold to manipulate. Disabling them fully I guess I wouldn't find out the complex ways to kill a target.

So, what are you doing? How are you playing and enjoying Hitman? (The normal game, not the elusive targets.)

I have opportunity guidance completely disabled.

"This target will be in Sapienza for 11 days and is one of the final three Elusive Targets to be released for the first season of HITMAN."

Well that's not a very good news for Linux gamers. I've played Hitman since the Linux release and only had a chance to do three elusive targets (four with the current one), missing the previous 20. :-(

Hello,
i am using an ATI graphics card and MESA 17.02 under Ubuntu 16.04. Unfortunately, I get the error "SIGSEGV(11)" every time I launch the game after the launcher. I can only see the loading screen for a few seconds. Does anybody have the same problem?

Which mesa version do you use for playing the game successfully?

Thanks

This looked like an overly shameless plug to me at first, but I see the video is very relevant to my question.
Thanks for sharing!

What card exactly? Can you try running it from the command line to see what other errors it spits out?
Also try the Oibaf PPA to see if a slightly more recent Mesa version will help.

Hello drmoth,
I am using an ATI R9 280X. When launching Hitman in console it just tells me that steam will be launched since the console is not supportet. No error are displayed there and the SIGSEGV(11) from Hitman appears again.

I could try the Oibaf PPA...

Edit: Sadly, the Mesa 17.2 does not help with my problem :(

Thanks
