The Linux release of River City Ransom: Underground will see a delay

River City Ransom: Underground, the crowdfunded follow-up to the original will see a delay in the Linux version.

The developers announced the main release will be on February 27th and the Steam page has a SteamOS/Linux system requirements section making it seem like Linux would be a day-1 release. It won't be though, as I spoke to the developer on Facebook and they said this:
QuoteNo, Linux will be a bit later. We will update when it releases on Linux.

They also said this a few days earlier on Kickstarter:
QuoteRelease will be to Mac and PC, followed by Linux (which was the stretch goal).

This is a shame, but not unexpected. Lots of crowdfunded games end up delaying the Linux version (hi Carmageddon), but it's still never nice to find out. Linux support was a stretch goal at $205K, so it's a shame that even with the extra funds to make it possible we don't see same-day support. It does bug me a lot when a stretch goal for Linux is hit, yet no mention of it not being a same-day release. Developers really need to be clearer with communication.

I did point out that Steam lists SteamOS/Linux so they might want to remove that for now.

Anyway, here's the launch trailer:
