Quoting: InverseTelecineI really (really!) wish I had the smarts to configure Winetricks etc to get games working reliably with Wine, but I just don't. It's like another language. Not even PlayOnLinux works for me very often. I'm afraid the only way I take advantage of Wine is through official ports. But that's okay as long as Wine ports don't discourage native development! I just have to hope that doesn't happen... everything is so uncertain! Agh!

what games did you try?
a lot of directx9 games run out of the box for me, or runs fine with some easy winetricks
most of the time you can see what's missing/not properly working from the terminal itself (or PlayOnLinux debugger)

sometimes it may be a bit more difficult, if so you should go and check the wine app database or post in the wine forum or forums alike

mind that in almost every occasion wine is going to have the same bugs and problems that a game has on Window$, so it's also worth looking steam game page and try any kind of tricks you find on the net :)

Here you go:

and the new one

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_judas_does_this_run_in_wine_thread_v1173/page1

While the threads are for the GOG versions of games, the winetricks needed, if any, to run them are all listed so you don't have to guess which one you need and so they should apply to non-GOG versions as well :)
