You thought Feral Interactive had done enough Linux ports this year? Wrong. Total War: WARHAMMER [Steam, Feral Site] now has a release date for Linux!

It releases on Tuesday 22nd of November, so not long to wait at all! It's another title from Feral to come to Linux first, as the Mac version has seen a delay.

I will hopefully have an overview of the Linux version ready for release day, stay tuned!

About the game
The Old World echoes to the clamour of ceaseless battle. The only constant is WAR!

A fantasy strategy game of legendary proportions, Total War: WARHAMMER combines an addictive turn-based campaign of epic empire-building with explosive, colossal, real-time battles, all set in the vivid and incredible world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

Command four wholly different races: the Empire, the Dwarfs, the Vampire Counts and the Greenskins, each with their own unique characters, battlefield units and play style.

Lead your forces to war as one of eight Legendary Lords from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles World, arming them with fabled weapons, armour and deadly battle magic; hard-won in individual quest chains.

For the first time in a Total War game, harness storms of magical power to aid you in battle and take to the skies with flying creatures, from ferocious dragons and wyverns to gigantic griffons.

this is the ultimate release, I've played a few total war games and all of them have been hit or miss. I'll play a couple of games and I'm done for awhile nothing all that great. (I still haven't played Total War: Shogun 2, and no port on the horizon) but Total War: Warhammer when it was announced got me a bit hyped because just the thought of the two make a lot of sense.
now that it's going to be for Linux I'm really excited, because this is honestly the best Total War game ever made.
I'm glad I've been patient enough to wait so I can grab this when it's released for Linux.

I really want to buy this, but it seems that it is another strategy game that's run amok with DLC? Or is the Linux version going to be a 'Ultimate' release? So far this 'we'll sell you bare bones edition, that will be filled in with DLC that will make the game cost 200 bucks in the end' crap needs to stop. *cough* looking at you Paradox *cough*.

Any of the bad reviews I see on steam are not due to the game sucking, but because Sega / Creative Assembly nickel and dime the hell out of everything (one person mentions DLC to enable gore...).

Right now (one DLC is on sale for 10% off) if you buy the game and all DLC, it's USD $123.03... That is pretty nuts.

Regarding multiplayer, Total War: WARHAMMER will be Linux vs Linux on release. Once the Mac version is out, we aim to get you playing against Mac users too like you can in Empire and Medieval II. :)

I think that's a challenge to crush the Apple users... Make..apple sauce!
