Total War: Warhammer has been officially announced, and it seems like it will be coming to SteamOS/Linux as well.

Multiple sites are reporting it, like IGN, but none give a source for the platforms stated (annoying).

The official site isn't up yet to check, but we have reached out to the developers on twitter who have yet to reply. We will update this post if they do let us know.

It looks like it will be a trilogy, so expect another two games in the Total War: Warhammer series. It also seems to be sticking to the tried and tested turn based map, but with real time battling.

About the game (Official)
Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power take their place on the battlefield, alongside thousands of warriors clashing in real-time tactical battles. All at YOUR command.

In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

"I am unstoppable"
"Devour the world"

Both of those are things that Nurgle (god of disease, decay, and destruction) would say, and yet it was his rival, Tzeentch (god of hope, change, and sorcery), that said them. The trailer was pretty, but I get the feeling that whoever scripted it didn't really know much of the lore.

A medieval fantasy setting over a historic setting? I am actually interested in Total War now. Can't wait to see more!

It's WFB (Warhammer Fantasy Battles) - 40k is the same universe, but ~40,000 years in the future. There are theories (I don't know if this is canon) that the Skaven warp weapons come from the 40k timeline. Basically, the Skaven interact with the warp, and there are theories that they pull some weapons from the future through that connection to the warp. Again, I can't recall if that's canon or not.
