Something I have been speaking about with Topware since 2013 (here, here as well and so on) is finally going to happen! Two Worlds II is getting a major engine upgrade, with new DLC and SteamOS & Linux support too.

From the PR sent to me:
QuoteThe first DLC, entitled Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae will be available at the end of Q2 2016 and focuses on the Hero's return to Antaloor, where he witnesses the shocking murder of DarPha! The killers are a never-before-seen tribe of hideous, rat-like creatures known only as "The Chosen", who control a mysterious, powerful new magic! Their genocidal plot threatens every living creature in Antaloor, and it's up to the Hero to find a way to stop them!

Expect to experience Antaloor like never before with the new engine update for Two Worlds II!
Also available for Linux and the Steam OS, the newly updated engine allows for a much higher level of character and landscape detail, an HD-GUI, in addition to tons of in-game achievements, co-op multiplayer, and lots of new in-game features and upgrades!

They aren't saying exactly when the SteamOS & Linux support will land, but it's likely in "Q2 2016" along with the first of the newly announced DLC named "Two Worlds II: Call of the Tenebrae" (take a look at the logos listed there now too).

They have also announced a DLC named "Shattered Embrace", and eight new Two Worlds II multiplayer maps.

It's great to see it finally be announced in public. I look forward to trying it out.

I hope it turns out better than what happened with Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry. Getting released in a terrible state. Then getting re-named and re-released, and then removed from Steam, now it's back again etc. Topware and Reality Pump need to start turning things around, hopefully this is the start.

Topware have been making progress with better Linux support at least, bringing some older titles like Earth 2160 and Knights and Merchants over to Linux, so maybe they really are turning things around for the better.

In other related news: They have also announced Two Worlds III, but it doesn't state any platforms yet, so it's not something big for us until I know more. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I hope it will have cross platform multiplayer :)

Looks neat... There is quite the number of Steam user reviews complaining about overreaching DRM though... On the Steam page it does say the game incorporates 3rd party DRM "Reality Pump". Apparently it locks you of the game if it detects hardware changes. Any word on if they will be trying to incorporate this kind of thing into the Steam O/S version?

Vendetta is a sad blood stain on Reality Pump, but Two worlds 1 & 2 still one of my favorites euro RPGs!

Still hoping someday i get to playthorough Vendetta, seems a great pirate game!

I even got a beta key back there!

Two Worlds 2. I played this game years ago. It starts off weak, gets better through the mid part, then gets worse near the end, capping off with what I consider to be the single worst final boss fight I have ever had the displeasure to play.

It's the first recent DLC. There's already a DLC called Pirates of the Flying Fortress. It's slightly better than the base game, largely because the final boss fight isn't awful and the loot is marginally more interesting.

Poor wording on my part, I meant the first of the new announced DLC.

Nice! I bought both "deluxe" editions of the 2 "Two Worlds" games years ago. However I never really got around to playing either of them (which is kind of weird since crpgs are my favorite genre)

Still, I certainly hope that the first game gets ported as well. I'm kind of pedantic when it comes to playing games "by the numbers" and when it comes to a series I really want to go through the full series in the proper order (unless it stinks of course) :P

Finally I loved both titles and bummed the second one for days. I thought they just abandoned the project since everything went kinda quiet. I'm so happy right now :)

Never heard of this game, but looks awesome, the type of game I want ported to Linux. Already on the wishlist.

Well crap, I just got this game yesterday on the Gog sale and spent a good 45 minutes getting it to run... I'll probably get it on Steam though, considering it might take forever (if at all) for the Linux version to get onto Gog.

I love GOG but that is the worst thing about them. There are several dozen games on there that have yet to add their already finished Linux ports.
