Valve Publishes Their SteamOS Mesa Patched Branch On Github

By - | Views: 8,603
Valve have now put up their patched branch of Mesa that they use for SteamOS on github for all to see.

Apparently they haven't actually done much (see a comparison here), still it is good to see them keep up with open-source. I guess this is really just to shield them from upstream regressions while still using recent versions of Mesa.

What is Mesa?
Mesa is an open-source implementation of the OpenGL specification - a system for rendering interactive 3D graphics. So, it's quite important of course.

Not exactly big news, but interesting nonetheless. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Actually, I'm not sure what Mesa is and what it does.

But I'm happy that everything is coming together to make an awesome gaming platform out of Linux, Yay!
