Want To See Red Baron On Linux? The Developers Are Listening!

By - | Views: 6,504

It's time to ramp up the support of a Linux version for the new Red Baron flight combat sim, the developers are listening.

QuoteHello everyone! Just wanted to let you know we are listening to this discussion here on reddit, and the larger discussion about Linux and Mac support for Red Baron. No final decision yet-- we are doing a tech evaluation now. And yes, if you want Linux, please keep the topic alive. It's only through monitoring demand we can make smart decisions about product features. You can leave a comment here also: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/madottergames/red-baron/comments
Thanks! -Damon Slye, Mad Otter

So if you want to see it on Linux, go ahead and shout about how much you want it on reddit and on their Kickstarter if you are a backer.

I would personally love to have this.

Loved the original game so much, it had one of those really thick manuals that you could read and learn history from. Gave me a lasting fascination for the WW1 air war and an ongoing interest in flight sims based on that era.

QuoteRed Baron will support Linux.
We want to let you know why. Because it's Open. We like Open. As Indie Game Developers for 20 years, we have had to fight the gatekeepers for access to their walled gardens. We want to let the players decide what games they want. We welcome an open, competitive market because we believe we can deliver as much value in our game as anyone else. We'd rather put all our time and effort into making the best possible game.
We haven't yet decided on whether or not to include OSX support.
We will support SteamOS.
The exact quote. Might want to update this post.

wow so very weird, reading how devs are opting to support linux/steamOS and indecisive about osX.

Thanks uncle Gabe !!

If linux keeps getting more support I can see many osX apps and users passing on to linux in the coming years. Linux could become number 2 rather quickly.

Wonderful!

I loved the original game back in the nineties and later on I spent many hours with RB3D as well. This is some of the best gaming news I´ve heard this year!
