It's a weekend, the sun is shining in a rare event for where I live, so naturally I will be spending my time playing Linux games. What will you be playing this weekend?

Personally, I'm going to be jumping back into Rocket League. Between the intense gameplay and sweet music, it's certainly in my top 10 most played Linux games. As much as I love the game, I'm simply terrible at it. Anyone who's watched some of our livestreams will attest to that fact, but even so I soldier on and keep playing. It truly says something about a game, to keep pulling you back in even when you know you're probably go to have loss after loss.

It always amazes me seeing people drive along the roof of an arena, to then boost through the air with pin-point accuracy and smash the ball right into the goal. I still haven't been able to wrap my head around those sick aerial jumps.

As a reminder, Rocket League and others are available in the The Humble Hooked on Multiplayer 2018 Bundle. I will be looking to setup a few more GamingOnLinux tournaments soon!

After that, likely more Phoenix Point, as they did recently release the Linux version of the backer build! I'm already incredibly impressed with the level of detail and how it feels mechanically. It might blow XCOM 1/2 right out of the water, which for me is a pretty tall order because I absolutely adore both XCOM and XCOM 2. More on that in a future article once I can gather some thoughts on it.

Finally, more time eating people in MachiaVillain, will have thoughts up on that ASAP.

Over to you in the comments!

The devs are very responsive to linux issues, now it runs great. If only those necros would not show up..

I'll be trying to work my way through Durlag's Tower in BG: EE. It's my first run through the lower levels and it's turning out to be a rough ride. In between runs, I'll be playing the expansion for ToME and a little platforming in Fox n Forests.

Not much gaming on the horizon for me this weekend, just got back from a few hours wandering round the local zoo snapping photos of the animals, tomorrow I've been volunteered to take a learner driver out for a few hours practice.

The skull on my Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition icon is probably just going to keep starring at me woefully as I continue to be too busy working on the farm outside to be able to continue my campaign. Bhaal is an emotional sort.

I've been back to Civ: Beyond Earth for a bit. And, well, I like it, but it's no Alpha Centauri. If someone took Alpha C, updated the graphics a little, brought the controls into the modern era (mouse wheel zoom and such) and otherwise maybe made little modern-finish changes to the UI to be more convenient, made it work perfectly on current Linux, and made no other changes, I would be all "Shut up and take my money". It would still be the best SF 4X-on-the-planet game around.

Rise of the Tomb Raider by day, Factorio by night. Loving both!

Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail! and Snail Trek. I love old-school SCI adventures :-)

And I'll probably work on my Oxygen Not Included base.

Shadow of Mordor and Rocket League.

Shadow of Mordor is a good port but would be better with a Vulkan backend i guess.

Rocket League Rumble mode is a lot of fun.

I also tried Skyrim SE with DXVK but no luck since it looks like can't load necessary files with that error:

Wine Staging 3.8 + DXVK 0.50 + 396.24 driver - EXT4 partition

Quoting: XpanderNot much time to play anything on the weekends, but managed to do the Dirt Rally GoL league event and played/gonna play some GTA V wit the help of DXVK. If i have some more time i will try to play more Rise of the Tomb Raider also.

What is your setup for GTAV? once it loads up i cant use the keyboard as it freezes hard for a good 10 seconds with any input, mouse movement is fine though. Is wine-staging required for DXVK with GTAV? currently testing on normal wine 3.8
