What have you been playing and what are your thoughts?

It's been a while since I last asked and plenty of games have been released or updated since then. Let's get talking.

For me, the usual Rocket League has been played a lot recently. Especially with the new in-game event going on, the Spike Rush game mode (video) is a huge amount of fun and it's pretty ridiculous. Even the normal game modes continue to keep the game as my #1, it's gotten to the point where I'm attempting all sorts of insane goals. It's still free to try until tomorrow at 5PM UTC with a 50% off sale on Steam.

Plenty more Dota Underlords as well of course, I'm absolutely terrible at it but it's also stupidly engrossing. I like that I can quickly go for a toilet break or to grab a drink when needed, since you don't have to be at your PC during the battles if you have to run for a minute.

Apart from that, Eagle Island continues to pull plenty of my attention. Such a sweet game and really quite a challenge at times. I've especially enjoyed jumping into the Roguelite mode to continue playing after the story is all done.

I also let the mini-me try out Bastion, while it's not a game I personally enjoy as I find the narrator a little irritating, he seems to love it on the more casual game mode and he's getting surprisingly good at it.

Do let everyone know what you've been playing and if it's worth picking up in the comments.

I try to finish my quick tests with gamehub and proton

I currently play Baldurs' Gate: Enhanced Edition.

It's amazing how a great a more than twenty years old game can still be.

I bought it on a multi-cd package when it was released, got it on a singled DVD with my first Pioneer(?) DVD drive and bought it recently in a Steam Sale when it was dirt cheap in full bundle with BG2 and all expansions.
One reason was support for Steam cloud saves. I simply love this Steam feature!
But this is somehow not working properly for this game as the second client has only a much older out of sync save game.
Different story...

BG is fantastic!
I hope I can finish it this time.
After all these years.

Well, I've been messing with emulation again, never used Retroarch before and I gotta admit that it's rather nifty. Setting up Retroarch is quite difficult, at least when you're inexperienced with the software, but at least you only really need to do it once. It would be nice if it could retrieve boxart for my roms w/o the file having the exact name the software expects, but that's a fairly minor problem ultimately.

I've been playing a lot of Super Mario 64. The game is more frustrating than I remember it being, perhaps my brain is turning into mush as I age.

Just gave supraland a quick run, seems to be a nice open world but holy cow it's nearly unplayable if I don't turn everything down, and even then it runs painfully at 30 to 40 FPS. The good news is that even if it's not perfect the game don't feel to laggy at 30 fps.

I started with Katana ZERO - absolutely brilliant game I was able to enjoy thanks to SteamPlay/Proton.

And continued with Hollow Knight - bought it a long time ago but finally took the time to play it. Well I started and now probably 50% through the main game but just a guess.

Also played just a little bit of Eagle Island and Supralang - could resist but only 1h in each. Certainly will continue later with both.

Last but not least, played/watched the demo of Synergia - amazing story and great visuals/atmosphere. Looking forward to the release!

Been playing mostly Helium Rain. Just expanding my little empire of space stations, one supplying the next; I like the sort of interlocking scheme of how stations producing one thing use the output of stations producing another thing. And there's something meditative about watching the auto-docker smoothly move your ship through asteroid fields with a ringed planet majestic in the near distance.
I kind of like the fact that combat can happen either with or without you, since a few experiments with the skirmish mode have demonstrated to me that I am hopeless at it, so I'm just gonna let my powerful fleet speak for itself hopefully.

When I get a bit bored with Helium Rain I've been switching to a bit of Stellaris and Civ: Beyond Earth. Both happen much faster on my new not-ancient computer, so that's a treat.

Kerbal Space Program!

The new Breaking Ground DLC is great and they added hinges, electric motors, propellers, and more...

Yakuza 0, almost 30 hours in it still in chapter 3, works great Proton.

Valkyria Chronicles 4, I really loved the first and this one is almost a carbon copy, some new additions but not much, In my opinion story is not as good, works flawlessly with Proton.

Started Red Dead Redemption 2, on Xbox One, it was cheap and I didn't have the patience to wait for a hypothetical Windows release. This game is so well made in every aspects, this game deserve a PC release.
