Well now, it's been quite some time since I asked a direct question to my readers. Here we are once again, as I open up the floor to you.
What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think about it?
Personally, I've been testing out Sudden Strike 4 which releases with day-1 Linux support tomorrow. I'm going to be livestreaming a preview of it in about 10 minutes on our Twitch channel. So far, so good and I will have more thorough thoughts on it at release! Remember to keep an eye on the sidebar, as it list the next livestream and this page where you can see our schedule.
I also decided to dive in at the deep end with The Long Dark story mode, but I have to say so far it seems quite disappointing. The story feels a little boring and some of the mechanics have been annoying me quite a lot. I've lost a few campfires that I desperately needed trying to go to the pause menu quickly, but instead it just stops making my campfire — annoying. I will have more thoughts to share when I've finished the first episode, the sandbox mode is great though.
Also, a shout out to the Putt-Putt games, as my son recently completed Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo in an hour, with very little help. He loves it, so if you have kids and they might like short adventure games I highly recommend the series. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

On my main desktop (Gentoo, i5-760, 8GB DDR3-1600 and Nvidia GTX670, Nvidia binaries) I just recently finished Tomb Raider. That was a good long game, I enjoyed it despite the fact it was kinda linear and scripted. Used steam controller for it.
On my work laptop (Opensuse Leap, i7, Nvidia GS840, Bumblebee and Nvidia binaries) once in a while I'll fire up Major Mayhem! If you haven't played Major Mayhem, I highly recommend it! It's a Unity game made by Rocket Jump (one man crew from New Zealand). I found out about it for Android first, it came to Windows and then Linux a bit after. Liam, if you haven't played/reviewed this game, give it a whirl :)
On my HTPC Laptop (Opensuse Leap, AMD Llano, A8-4555M with HD 8550M, Opensource RadeonSI) I play DiRT Showdown. I just finished it today actually, but I'll still play it for a bit, fun game to play on the 50" TV with Logitech controller. The game runs nice on opensource AMD drivers on 1080p, especially considering this hardware is pretty old and not that powerful. My kid like the destruction derby runs too :D

Dungeon Warfare has turned out to be a very enjoyable Tower Defence style game. Picked it up on discount about 3 weeks ago, and played 32 hours so far. It is different to usual TD games, because it is set in a Dungeon Keeper setting, and you can block the path of the opposing Heroes and cause them to take different routes and then use the existing dungeon features to your strategic advantage. Heartily recommended. Great for a short (say 20 minutes) gaming session, and then another one, and then another one..
7 Days To Die has been something I've really enjoyed playing over the past 4 months. In that time, I've managed to play a massive 300+ hours of this game. What's more, I'm not feeling so tired of it, that I want to give up. Some games, you play them and then finishing the game is an annoying grind, and you aren't actually enjoying it any more. The only reason I'd put this game down, is because I am now so familiar with the mechanics, that I'm ready for something fresh. But, all things considered, happy to fire it up and "Carry on Surviving" It has taken me 300 hours to get to the point where it is a little bit stale. A fantastic game.
Oh Sir: The Insult Simulator - picked this up a week ago, as the lowest tier of the Humble micro Jumbo bundle. Played a number of short sessions, totalling 4 hours. Some online sessions versus other people, some against the PC, and some Tournaments against the PC. Unlocked most of the playable characters, and in the online games, I've won about 7:1 against other humans, haha. It's quite fun, good for a short game once in a while.

Enjoying the story, the game play, but I've a few minor niggles with it. I guess I've been spoilt playing games like Dying Light, Mad Max, 7 Days To Die - which are proper open-world games. Tomb Raider isn't entirely linear, but it isn't fully open-world either. Very happy with the graphics, voice acting, and story so far.

And the other day I got the black screen (tm), which made me go bonkers and now I'm taking a break.
Yes - I bought and paid for a month but the game is near unplayable because of server issues and lag. I'm optimistic that they will fix their problems (though that recent DDOS attack doesn't help) and will check back in a few months.

TO be honest - the fact that it's a kinda linear adventure game is what I love about Tomb Raider. I'm open worlded out!

I'm stuck on almost everything,
Mad Max = gotta win a race to progress the story
Tomb Raider = keep being killed by trees
Shadow of Mordor = stuck trying to kill the second war chief
Xcom 2 = still haven't played the first one yet
Borderlands games = stuck at the beginning on both
Dead Island games = haven't played them enough to get past the tutorials
Company of Heroes 2 = haven't even looked at it yet
Dungeons 2 = still on the tutorial
War for the Overworld = same as Dungeons 2
Overlord games = never even finished them in Windows
Day of the Tentacle = haven't played it yet
Full Throttle = stuck in the same spot as the original
Life is Strange = haven't finished Episode 1 yet
Hitman = YAY actually finished the main storyline
Total War Warhammer = haven't played it enough to get past the tutorial
Victor Vran = Finished the main storyline, still need to buy the DLCs
What with going to the Doctors & Hospital every other week & everything else life seems to be throwing at me I just don't have the time to play anything to get anywhere at the moment.
