What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think?

Well now, it's been quite some time since I asked a direct question to my readers. Here we are once again, as I open up the floor to you.

What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think about it?

Personally, I've been testing out Sudden Strike 4 which releases with day-1 Linux support tomorrow. I'm going to be livestreaming a preview of it in about 10 minutes on our Twitch channel. So far, so good and I will have more thorough thoughts on it at release! Remember to keep an eye on the sidebar, as it list the next livestream and this page where you can see our schedule.

I also decided to dive in at the deep end with The Long Dark story mode, but I have to say so far it seems quite disappointing. The story feels a little boring and some of the mechanics have been annoying me quite a lot. I've lost a few campfires that I desperately needed trying to go to the pause menu quickly, but instead it just stops making my campfire — annoying. I will have more thoughts to share when I've finished the first episode, the sandbox mode is great though.

Also, a shout out to the Putt-Putt games, as my son recently completed Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo in an hour, with very little help. He loves it, so if you have kids and they might like short adventure games I highly recommend the series.

omer666I don't see a lot of people playing Dawn of War III. If anyone wants to join a multiplayer game with me, I'd be glad.
I haven't bought it yet, I will at some point though.

coryrj19951I've been playing Myth 2. Just got this about a week or so ago
Interesting, I also want to play Myth 2 eventually. Did you use Project Magma?

Yeah, the Loki installer wasn't quite working how it should of been so I went with the Magma installer which actually detected the Myth CD and installed from it. I did get the original Loathing and Fear editors running from the CD though, which I was very surprised when they actually started up.

Been playing a lot of Ticket to Ride lately. Solid board game, really nice for a side activity to YouTube,a good way to waste 5-10 minutes. Linux port mostly works well, but some times the menu crashes to desktop, and at other times the game keeps running in the background after being closed. Both issues are trivial.

Also powered through Full Throttle, still a great adventure game. On a side note, that was my first LucasArts adventure game, back on Dad's first Mac. Whether I'm better at it now or just remember stuff from my childhood, it now took a few hours to get through what took me a summer back then.

wojtek88So recently I've finished Pillars of Eternity + White March Part 1 and 2. According to Steam it took me 195 hours, however I don't know how the time was measured (sometimes I left game and Steam running while leaving home).

As long as the game has not been stopped, it counts as play time.

nattydreadI'm stuck on the last level of xcom. Any tips?

Have at least two fully enhanced, fully equipped snipers optimized for long-range combat ready. At least!

dweezil-n0xadParadigm: Also recently played: Kingdoms & Castles, Operation Sheep Defense, Full Throttle remastered.

Very cool to read that you are playing Operation Sheep Defense. As the developer it is nice to see that someone is playing it. Hope you enjoy the game!
