Wine 3.10 is out with improved Vulkan support and more

By - | Views: 11,041

Another interesting Wine release became available yesterday, with Wine 3.10 bringing more Direct 3D 12 and Vulkan work.

Here's their highlights of what's new:

  • Swapchain support in Direct 3D 12.
  • Vulkan support updated to the latest spec.
  • Debugger support for Wow64 processes.
  • Still more support for the Task Scheduler.

As for bug fixes, they noted 17 had been checked off. These include issues being solved with Neverwinter Nights 2, Max Payne 3, World of Tanks and more. Although, to be clear as always, bugs being noted as solved in the release announcements doesn't necessarily mean they were fixed by this release, some are older bugs being marked off (which is good anyway).

Incredibly progress as always, pleasing to see for those few Windows games in my library that are likely never to come to Linux that I might attempt in Wine one day.

Mainly hoping that Elder scrolls six is rendered in vulcan so it runs well on wine, a lot of tools coming too just read this on omg ubuntu winepak basically flatpacks but with pre configured wine install programs so far they only have a handfull of games supported being overwatch/fortnite and wow. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/06/winepak-flatpak-for-wine-apps

Quoting: ArehandoroI really hope the project continues improving at this pace, yesterday's conferences in the E3 made my mouth water for some of the games.

DOOM Eternal looks awesome, I imagine that will run flawlessly in wine just like 2016 does

Oh and unrelated to E3 but Crash Bandicoot comes out in 2 weeks on friday, really hopeful that will run in wine too

The Yakuza 0/1 Remasters (Hopefully these two are ported by Feral though) and Beyond Good and Evil 2 or even Skull & Bones too :) Some of the PS4 exclusives look amazing as well, shame I don't own a PS4 xD

I've managed to get Battlefield Bad Company 2 to run through Wine and it's working great, multiplayer through Steam working as well, I'm very happy to be able to play it again ^_^

Now I must work on getting Origin working for BF3 and BF4, need to be ready for BF5 :D

Hey how did you get Test Drive Unlimited 2 to behave? I've been getting this issue for a while now. Or have they fixed it in this very version? (I haven't tested in 3.10 yet) Do you do anything special with it?

Btw I think you should put the graphics settings in Contrast on max, they work and look great. :)
