Xenonauts 2 being made, developer tells us should be on Linux

If XCOM just isn't enough alien vs human strategy for you, Xenonauts 2 is now also being created and the developer confirmed to us it should be on Linux.

Another one I am a bit late on writing up, as I actually lost the tweet as I did it on my personal account, woops:

@thenaughtysquid Yeah should be

I can't wait to see what they do with an updated engine and 3D graphics over their original style in the first Xenonauts.

About Xenonauts 2 (From their placeholder website)
Xenonauts 2 entered full production at the start of this year and is currently slated for a 2017 release.

We are planning a full announcement for the game in the next couple of months that will be complete with a website, concept art, the universe lore and our full vision for the gameplay. However the excitement created by the imminent release of XCOM 2 has also generated interest around our plans for the Xenonauts franchise, so we felt this was a good moment for us to confirm that we are working on a sequel and release a few high-level details about the game.

Xenonauts 2 will not be a chronological sequel, rather it will cover similar events taking place in an alternate timeline – an alien invasion occurring in a Cold War-era Earth. This means humanity does not start with the advanced alien technology unlocked in the first game, and we also have the freedom to subtly alter the story, setting and enemies in order to make a more interesting sequel. Oh, man... 3D graphics, really? I really liked the hand drawn look.

I was really hyped on Xenonauts, hearing it's like the original UFO and stuff, but when it was finally released, I couldn't really get into it. I'm not saying it's bad, but it just didn't capture my attention for long enough. Instead I went back to playing UFO: Enemy Unknown in openxcom...

I'm really looking forward for Xenonauts 2. Xenonauts is a great game already and I'm excited how the sequel will develop.
