Need Help - How to Run SNES9x on Ubuntu MATE 17.04 ?
bintsmok commented on 17 October 2017 at 4:47 am UTC

Hi guys,

I wanted to revisit some of my favorite SNES games so I downloaded SNES9x. After unpacking snes9x-1.53-gtk-81-x86_64.tar.bz2, nothing happens when I double-click the "snes9x-gtk" file.

Check if it has executable permissions. If it does, start it from the command line and see if it says something. If it doesn't start at all, try "ldd snes9x-gtk" and see if it's missing any dependencies.

Guestsnes9x is on the Ubuntu software center, you should just be able to install from there and run as normal.

Yeah this works but ubuntu repository dont have lastest snes9x version aka 1.54

i realise this is an old thread but i recommend trying retroarch, it has many versions of popular emulators available as cores, including snes.
