Resident Evil 7 "Cloud" version coming to Nintendo Switch
Koopacabras May 22, 2018
QuoteAs the name implies, Resident Evil 7 will not be launching on Nintendo’s console in the traditional sense. Everything runs through the cloud (the “download” is just 45MB), so you won’t actually be purchasing the full game that can be played offline. You’ll need a stable internet connection while accessing the title.

Players will nonetheless be able to play Resident Evil 7 in its entirety on Switch. This includes the Banned Footage Volume 1 and 2, End of Zoe, and Not a Hero DLC.

Resident Evil 7 can be played for up to 15 minutes on Switch for free. After that, you’ll need to purchase a 2,000 yen ticket, which lasts 180 days.

£15 for 6 months pass. A rental that can only be used with internet access. I really hope there isn't a single "sale" for the game.

Yeah a bit expensive. But remember it's Japan. I really don't know what to think about this whole cloud thing. On one side it could be really positive for Linux and bring AAA titles, but on the other side it could make less developers port their games.

it's still is a bit green though. Most cloud services are localized to certain regions and are only playable there because the input lag and latency. I suppose that people on rural areas are not going to be happy with cloud gaming.

If the game isn't running natively on Linux, then it hasn't been "brought" to Linux. Want to take a guess what platform that RE7 cloud version is running?
