Deus Ex Mankind Divided via wine/proton?

Hy guys,
I'm still not playing this title because of performance issues on my system.
I've read that under windows it comes with a dx12 backend and i hope that when the wine translation layer from dx12 to vulkan will be usable, i could try it and see if i can squeeze some more fps.
I'd even try via steam play, but at the moment it doesn't even start.
I've read that it is "infected" from Denuvo protection, that's why i cannot start via wine/proton.
What am i asking is if is there another way of trying the non native version under linux.

Thanks!

i don't think denuvo is the issue here, i was able to launch it like ~5 months ago with DXVK+wine staging just fine and perf was a bit better than the native one, but it had some graphical glitches back then, i dont have it installed currently to test again, but probably the issue is somewhere else than denuvo. DXVK has improved since i tried it quite a bit so it should in theory perform much better now also. It's a huge download though and im not interested really playing it, so im not really willing to download this atm.

Thanks for answering.
Is there something special i can do to debug the issue?
Starting steam from command line and then launching the game does not print anything useful in the terminal.

PROTON_LOG=1 %command% into launch options should create a log file into your home folder to see

Thanks, i did it, but i can't see something useful, unfortunately:

Also, it seems that i'm not alone, it worked in the past, but not anymore, weird:

...and now this:

QuoteHe made his intentions more clear today on the Wine developer list. Philip is currently aiming to get Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's D3D12 renderer working on VKD3D. For that to happen, there are some missing pieces to be addressed by VKD3D.
How is he testing it?

-EDIT-
Found it; it seems to work with wine, running it now via steam + wine + lutris.

One question. Does the native version render hair for you? For me I just see a shimmer on the background for where the hair is supposed to be.

Edit: That's hair for NPCs in game. Player and cutscenes are fine for me.

I just ran the benchmark and hairs were there.
I cannot double check because i uninstalled the native version.

Damn, steam just got an update and it refuses to start now :)
-edit-
I've rolled back to v1.16 "beta" and had to use the skidrow 1.16 crack, yes. It works now.
Have had to replace just the .exe to make it work, it seems to just disable denuvo. Replacing the .dlls breaks steam savegames
I suspect it has something to do with denuvo and new steam, meh...

PS: Liam, it is fine to write such things here? (i own the game)
