Quoting: mylkaseems like the linux version with vulkan has much less cpu overhead, so even my old cpu can do a little better than dx11 on win7

did 2 more runs with gamemode and ACO

can someone also try it?
here my launch options
RADV_PERFTEST=aco gamemoderun VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay VK_LAYER_MESA_OVERLAY_STATS=submit,draw,pipeline-graphics VK_LAYER_MESA_OVERLAY_POSITION=top-right %command%

steam screenshot didnt made a pic of the mesa overlay

EDIT2: 2 more runs with "fidelityfx cas" on. it is an AMD image sharpening filter for vulkan and dx12 so i dont have it on win7. kinda same results

Here's mine with Mesa/ACO Though the command failed to start for me so run

VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay VK_LAYER_MESA_OVERLAY_STATS=submit,draw,pipeline-graphics VK_LAYER_MESA_OVERLAY_POSITION=top-right %command%

Well, yeah, as it should be, Vulkan doing it's job :D

What CPU you got ?

Edit, NM just looked at your benchmark

latest ACO driver from valve's ppa it's even faster, I gained 2fps... sweet!! :D

(I don't know why it detects a 580, it's a 570)

check this new Mesa ACO hack to gain some extra FPS

(sorry for necroposting, but users involved in this thread might be interested)

This isn't related to AMD or the ACO compiler but since I ran the Benchmark I felt like creating a new topic is obsolete and thus posted the results here.

I tested the game using the native Linux version and Proton using DX11 and DX12.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Benchmark Results:

Preset: Ultra High
Resolution: 2560x440
Anti-Aliasing: TAA

Best out of two:

Linux Native (Feral 3D):

Frames: Renderd: 23595
Avg. FPS: 150

Proton Experimental: experimental-9.0-20240328c

VKD3D-proton: vkd3d-1.1-3973-g21008d5c
DLSS: Off

Frames: Renderd: 17916
Avg. FPS: 117

DXVK: 2.3.1-3-g855b2746

Frames: Renderd: 19108
Avg. FPS: 123

Conclusion: Feral Interactive done an extremely well job on this Linux Port. Both in terms of compatibility (it does not require random workarounds on distributions not based off Ubuntu) and performance wise thanks to their DirectX to Vulkan mapper Feral 3D. The native Linux port ran the best in all 3 Benchmarks. It's very sad Feral stopped making Linux ports though 😢

System:

OS: openSUSE Aeon (Kernel 6.8.4-rc1)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 (Driver: 550.67)
RAM: 16 GB DDR-5 + ZRam
DE: Gnome 46 (Wayland)

It is indeed. The Vulkan ports were amazing. I suppose it's not so much "Feral stopping making them" as it was "publishers requesting them". As the Steam Machine hype dried up, so did the need for Linux ports. And with the way Proton works now, that is not likely to change any time soon. Seems that macos ports aren't doing much better and that Feral is more relying on mobile now.

I find this quite interesting, since MacOS doesn't have any real equivalent to Proton that I'm aware of.

Yeah seen a lot of iOS, Android and Switch Ports lately by Feral. They really did a fine job and I am proud to say I bought all of their Linux games, except the Total War series.

Likely because of this.
