can't get battle.net for starcraft ii to get past login screen

battle.net will load but right after logging in it will crash with no errors or anything

Dont' know if it's relevant, but there was some talk of needing staging 5.19 for WoW. I presume it's similar for SC2?

Anyhow, Wine/Proton version is relevant, and I bet there's errors and warnings if launched from the terminal. Wine is quite verbose.
