Doom and Spore keep crashing?
gobbi Nov 28, 2020
I am pretty new to linux gaming and just bought doom and spore via steam.

At first they seemed to work just fine (few caveats i guess), but lately, that is after about two weeks of playing doom eternal and spore have started randomly crashing. I havent been able to find a pattern to it. I was on IRC earlier and was pointed to how to create a log file which I have done but... they are huge, the first was almost 5gb, the second was over 100mb.
So I am not sure how to post log files that larger and really not sure what else to do?

Your best bet for support is to post your specs; issue and logs for each game at the Proton Github.

As for how to upload log files that are too big you can compress the log file into a .tar.gz file that will take up far less space and be able to be uploaded. Just right click on the log file and choose "compress".

Might want to try different versions of Proton (5.0.x, 4.x etc.) if this is a a regression. It's fine to mix and use different versions for different games.
