3rd party X11 servers have existed on windows for a long time now, but wayland support is really interesting. I guess it's a good thing, that it might lead to more people hacking on Wayland.
It's useful I agree but I doubt anyone using WSL is going to be doing Wayland development. I doubt they would do any graphical linux development. Instead it would be to run the occasional linux application but even then I can't imagine it will be used much. Microsoft is pushing development of web applications on windows and deploy on linux. WSL is more for testing than anything else.
