To quote the inimitable Motörhead: too late, too late. I bought a new system with a AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU, 32 gigs of RAM, a 2TB SSD, and a AMD Radeon RX 7600 GPU in December. I will buy a Steam Controller 2, though, as I got an 8BitDo Pro 2 Wired controller and it has a really annoying issue where it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting (not to mention the fact that the configuration application is only available for Windows and Mac and doesn't even work under Wine). ...I just hope the SC2 will be able to be configured with SC Controller in short order after its release.
