I'll be doing long distance with my partner in the coming months. What are some of the best co-op games we could play together on the Steam Deck and such? We've done quite a few of couch co-op games, but we're looking for more!

If you like Slay the Spire or any of those deckbuilding games I highly recommend *Viractal: Will You Trust Your Party?*, it's great on Steam Deck. Unfortunately it's best with 3 players but still very much playable with 2.

Also check out Mosa Lina, it's the perfect couch coop game.

Give Dome Keeper (External Link: You need to be logged in to view this.) a try - my friend and I LOVED playing this game together. When we played it they didn't even have multiplayer but a while back they patched it all in. They now have online as well as local multiplayer, so should be super fun!

If you're both using Steam Decks, I'd definitely recommend It Takes Two if you haven't played it already—it's one of the best co-op experiences out there.

Portal 2 (co-op campaign)
Deep Rock Galactic
PlateUp!

Since you'll be doing long distance, games with voice chat and steady progression tend to be the most enjoyable. Hope you both have a great time!

Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim, Overcooked would be my three to recommend, RDR2 works on the deck well, haven't tried multiplayer but that its a great to muck around on with a friend.

Split Fiction is excellent. Sephiria is recently out and great fun. I love No Rest for the Wicked. Slay the Spire 2 is phenomenal. Deadzone Rogue has tight gameplay, similar to Gunfire Reborn, but more focused. Necesse is a lot of fun, similar to Core Keeper. And then there's all the base-building games like Enshrouded, Nightingale, Valheim and Abiotic Factor.

And of course, Helldivers 2.

Hope you find something good!

I can vouch for Mosa Lina as well if you like wacky platforming, and I would add Ultimate Chicken Horse to that! It's not cooperative, but I honestly don't care one bit whether I win or lose, I just love the shared chaos and pulling off tough levels regardless of other people's performance.

Escape Simulator series
We Were Here series
Monster Hunter series (Rise runs amazingly on Deck)

There's a 2-player NES Zelda ROM-hack you might want to experience.

I would say Warframe, although there's a lot to get into for beginners. Definitely have someone who knows the game to take you through it if you're new to it.

It's also very generous about what you can get without putting money into it, but putting some money in for platinum does help.

My brother-in-law stopped over last night and we played Dome Keeper local multiplayer for over four hours. We both had a blast! I have played singleplayer previously, but the multiplayer game play makes a good game much more enjoyable. Thanks for the recommendation.
