Beautiful open-world action adventure Pine is releasing next month

By - | Views: 11,207

3D open-world action adventure game Pine from Twirlbound and Kongregate is going to officially release on October 10th.

Sounds like an incredible intriguing game, a world where Humans are seemingly not top of the chain and so you will encounter all sorts of creatures.

Feature Highlight:

  • A seamless open world to explore, filled to the brim with secrets, puzzles and collectibles
  • A smart simulated ecology of species who fight each other over food and territory
  • A diverse cast of species to befriend or hinder through trading, talking, questing and fighting
  • An engaging combat system that learns from your every move
  • A sweeping story of a human tribe at the bottom of the food chain, struggling for survival

It will be "$24.99 or regional equivalent" at release. They've confirmed for PC it will be on both GOG (no page yet) and Steam.

The even better news, is that the Linux version should be ready and live then too! Confirmed to us both on Twitter and Steam. We don't get many games officially supported on Linux that are like this, so I'm pretty excited. Will you be picking up a copy?

Definitely yes, if female protagonist is an option. Can`t seem to find this info, will probably ask at subreddit or just wait for release.

Same here.

But it seems it's one fixed character:

"there is no character creation planned for Pine. It's a singular story about a remaining tribe of humans in the world"

They respond like this in relation to race, but I guess that also gives us our answer.

It certainly looks like an appealing game to me. I'm not so fussed about the character creation options myself. Perfectly happy to play a female in Tomb Raider or a male in Serious Sam. And it seems reasonable for the specific human character to be used in this game because humans are lower down on the hierarchical tree in this world, i.e. It is needed for richness of the game story.

Mazal tov!

In all seriousness, growing up with the original Legend of Zelda as my very first RPG, and the subsequent sequels up to Ocarina of Time (my last one I got into before I drifted away from consoles), this seems to fit the bill for that little nostalgia hole in my soul.

Really looking forward to it!

Looks like a mix between Fable and Overlord aesthetics. Wishlisting!

Just---wow. I'll wait for the reviews to come in, but unless there's something really broken in the design, this will be the first game I'll have paid full price for since Fallout 4.

When I looked yesterday, they didn't have requirements for Linux yet, but now they entered (generic) ones...!

Pretty disappointing about not being able to play a female or customizable protag, but the rest of it looks pretty sharp. Definitely one to keep an eye out for, maybe pick it up once the inevitable round of post-release patches come out.
