Worms have invaded Golf With Your Friends with a big new 18 hole course

By - | Views: 18,319

Incoming! The amusing multiplayer Golf game Golf With Your Friends has been invaded by Worms with a Team17 team-up.

This Worms themed update brings in a big new 18 hole course with Worms inspired scenery. New mechanics were added in too including a Jet Pack allowing you to stay in the air a bit longer, along with some amusing new obstacles like Mines, Super Sheep and more to spice up your next Golf session.

As silly as Golf With Your Friends is, it's actually a pretty good game. They constantly add big updates, just like the Space themed course added only last month. There's now 9 differently themed level packs built-in, each of them having 18 courses—that's a huge amount of playable content.

It's still in Early Access with at least another 3 sets of levels planned, so that should be another 54 courses to come before it's ready. There's also a built-in level editor and Steam Workshop support.

Weirdly satisfying too. I can't tell you the joy I gained when I hit a super-sweet hole in one. After recently playing Adventure Golf in real-life and having a slightly frustrating experience (too dark, bird sounds far too loud, expensive, too many people and so on), Golf With Your Friends continues to allow me to enjoy it all. Considering the price too (below £6 usually), it's great value if you love casual games like this.

Golf With Your Friends is available to buy on Humble Store and Steam.

I have been looking at this game for quite some time. It reminds me of a game I played on the Commodore 64 called Hole-In-One. Hole-In-One was a much simpler game, with a top down, low resolution graphics; but it had great "playability".

Thanks for the review. I have moved Golf With Your Friends higher on my list of games to be purchased during the holiday Steam sales.

Was playing GWYF this morning with my 14-yo daughter. She thought it was great fun!

To avoid seat-swapping, I used a small portable USB keyboard and my daughter sat in the hot seat. It worked very well and avoided too much frustration.

So this game has local multiplayer (couch gaming with kb or controller)? It is not listed as such in Steam user tags or dev-set categories nor on PCGamingWiki.

Yes. The mode is actually called 'Hot Seat'.

Do you know the max limit of players in hot seat in GWYF?

Wow, that's awesome. There are hotseat games that just cap it at 4 for no good reason. If I got 12 people together in the room to play it and if we think we want to have long turn turn-around times, then maybe we should be rewarded for that accomplishment.

I've had this game from the early days. Pretty good fun, especially for the price (9 courses of 18 holes now). A few minor glitches on Linux, but nothing too major. It's especially hilarious when you start doing simultaneous multiplayer with large groups and weird modifiers. :)

Just played trough the worms course. Great fun, especially with the explosive barrels.
