After years of waiting, Dragon's Lair is now available on Linux in Beta form

I had to grab this just for the nostalgia. I wasted a few dollars in the arcade just to beat this, back when this first came out.

Quoting: Luke_NukemAs far as I know, Linux support in Unreal Engine is completely volunteer maintained. Fairly certain no Epic employees are paid to work on it.

If they're going to do that, it would be nice if they could release the source code to the community to have help developing it.

The source code is available, for the engine and the game. This is how it is volunteer maintained.

Uhm , great it got ported , but I admit I do not see the appeal.
It's like a movie-cartoon where it pauses every X minutes so you can push a button which may or may not progress.

( I never liked QTEs in cut-scenes )

Are you starting the installers directly ? Or through BattleNet client ?
What win version ?

Under windows 7 basically i used the guide from gamers on linux tweaking it for windows 7 and that is pretty much it and never had any problems oh and no download the client or just use my retail dvd copy.

Hmm.
Can you link the guide please ?
Also , don't have a retail copy. Just have the digital version. :(

Haha, I literally just bought this for the Atari Jaguar last week.

So, with my luck I had bought a few others and first tested I-war. It wouldn't load, so tried a few tricks, ended up unplugging the JagCD and tried a few restarts and got it to work. Then tried to get Dragon's Lair to load... it wouldn't read the disk... well, long story short.... many hours later and a resoldering of a few wires, it works again... but by that time it was 4am and my brain needed sleep. I recently got Space Ace as well, are they porting that to Linux too?

Quoting: DrakkerAlso a fan of FTL, but so far I rather like Darkest Dungeons. It may be because I'm still doing low-mid level quests, but the game doesn't seem all that hard, and by thinking ahead you can deal with the occasional bad luck, after all these games are all about planning and dealing with strings of bad rolls. I did lose a whole team foolishly putting a torche in the shambler's altar, thinking that its a level 1 dungeon and it can be that bad. Yeah... sigh... heh. Otherwise, as long as you have a good healer or two in your team the game is almost a walk in the park. The occultists dish so many critical hits that they significantly lower the team's stress. It seems that vestal+occultist+occultist+whichever-warrior-is-available can't lose so far. Infinite healing, lots of crits, can deal with anything and will make quick work of the back row of any enemy formation, preventing extra stress.

Yeah, my biggest issue so far, was when I wasn't paying attention to my gold at base, and spent too much upgrading/destressing. Then I had a very limited choice of Heroes, and not enough money to properly equip them, and pretty much hosed my whole campaign after 6 quests... Learned my lesson and started a fresh campaign.. :D

Quick tip: Adjusting video clip audio levels in Kdenlive
By Philadelphus, 29 June 2017 at 7:23 pm UTC

Oh yes, the volume (keyframeable) tool. That's quite powerful and handy.

From the title I thought this was going to be about adjusting the global volume of all clips in a track (useful if you have lots of little clips in a track and want to change all their volumes at once), but perhaps that can be the next installment! :)

Quoting: BeamboomMy definitive video editor favourite on Linux. I've tried quite a few but most can't handle larger projects well, or severely lack features.
Same; when I got into video editing last year as something to do while unemployed, I went through something like 7–8 different editing programs, all of which were missing some essential (to me) feature or another. The version of Kdenlive on Debian 8 was incredibly out of date and prone to crashing when you so much as looked at it funny, but it was still better than all the other ones I tried. And this weekend I updated to Debian 9 with a newer version of Kdenlive, so I'm hoping it'll fix a lot of the bugs and crashes I experienced. :)

I'd be interested, though unhelpfully I don't really have any specific topics in mind. Maybe something on how to record your microphone separately from your desktop audio? I haven't really looked into that.

Quoting: MaCroX95I believe it is hard for devs to compile a linux version of a game that was designed for windows in mind purely... That's where the devs screw up during the development.

If thats the case, why does the Mac version work?
It seems like Unreal are slacking in supporting the linux version of Unreal engien.

Epic have stated they think linux was gonna be a challange to port, but not this big of a challange.

We also got Ark survival evolve that runs horrible on Linux, missing texters, and got memory leak.
That memory leak thingy also seems to effect windows users btw, but the game doesnt run good at all under linux
compaired to windows. Yes it could be that the devs are slacking, but I also think unreal is to blame there aswell.

2 reasons: it's in Alpha; they would rather have a launcher.

If they don't provide a deb/ppa, they've basically got one less tester over here. I suspect that I'm the tip of a fairly big Ubuntu-shaped iceberg.

Sure, if I'm incredibly bored, I might give it a go, but honestly, the last time I had time on my hands, I briefly looked at this, then ended up downloading the awesome OpenMW instead.

Quoting: DrakkerDarkest Dungeon is 60% off.

I bought DD the first day of Summer Sale. I've been playing the heck out of it since.. It's atmosphere and ability to make you lose hours at a time is a bit reminiscent to me of Hand of Fate. I think its great..

I also bought it during the sale, and I think highly of it, but the play-style isn't quite my cup of tea. My issue is similar to a number of other players, in that you play with no attachment to your adventuring team. Basically, you're a completely mercenary boss, back at the base, and when your team is overcome with insanity and diseases you drop them and continue with a set of newbie characters. If you do try to treat your team, then you end up using too much gold to counter the afflictions and that means you can't upgrade your base. This then leads on to making the game a bit grindy, as you re-run short quests, drop your characters, slowly improve your base, rinse and repeat. Further on, you're trying to maintain some of your higher level characters so you can go on higher level quests.

Also, on top of the above play-style, each combat round has virtual dice rolls, where the skill and equipment level of your characters can easily be overcome by dice luck. Your aim is to try to minimise the damage, but a few bad rolls and your current team can be destroyed and grind, grind, grind.. let's build another team.

FTL is more my cup of tea. By doing well in that game, completing quests, you unlock different ships. You can then try different play-throughs with those new set-ups. Each play-through begins with a basic team, not one which is either levelled-up or racked with afflictions. When combat takes place it feels more like you have control of surviving it, even if it is easy to be decimated by some lucky hits.
