I would love to see this game on Linux and furthermore I really hope that Vulkan version will outperform DX12 on both Windows and Linux :) This would be great showcase of the superiority of Vulkan not only in openness but also in cross-platform performance :D

The games I remember having enjoyed very much (independent of category): Aquaria, Candle, Oddworld: New'n'Tasty, Psychonauts, the Penumbra-series, Half Life 1, text- and "click & point"-adventures like the Lucasfilm-series and others.

The games I seemingly played for quite a few hours on Steam (not only platforming): Alwa's Awakening, Axiom Verge, Bastion, Costume Quest, Grimind, Life Of Pixel, Limbo, Metro: Last Light, Portal 1 +2, Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight, Spider: Rite Of The Shrouded Moon, Steamworld Dig, Super Win The Game, Trine 1+2.

Anyhow, I guess I'll find some other things over time.

Now, this is too special for a recommendation, but one of the very few games from my youth that in my humble opinion stood the test of time is this one on MSX:

Platforming, lots of exploration and mysteries, made by the wizards of Konami. Can't say too much about the bosses though. It even featured some "saving" ability by getting a code at some place that you could enter to return at that state. Nowadays, you could always save using an emulator's capabilities.

Given that CRT are hard to come by these days, and are a pain in the arse most times needing work etc, I've switched to running older harder with Nvidia 8600GT cards or higher - these can deal with MAME shaders with ease. Dunno why the fuck you would bother with that shitty (and fucking slow) Hyperspin FE, or Windows, or any of those ultra-super-crap xxx-in-1 boards.

Wow , you seem really passionate about this stuff.
Didn;t know there was such a big community for arcades but then again I never was into arcade games as my parents were not too keen on me wasting money there when i had a computer and games at home.

Also they were very short lived in my country. I was born shortly before Communism collapsed so arcades only had a few years before PCs showed up and internet cafes were a thing.

Curios how you built that arch to accommodate the purpose. You'll have to forgive me but outside of MAME and the NES/SNES/PS1 most popular emulators I am rather clueless. I did not own a console growing up and as mentioned earlier I did not frequent arcades.

Also , per your icon you are on Open Suse. Curios why you chose Suse when you seem to have plenty of experience on Arch.

I had another look at the videos on Steam and am still not thrilled with S&S. The impression is that its enemies are hard to make out from the background and that it relies too heavily on fighting and not much else. If that's the case, it's not my cup of tea. Or is this impression completely wrong?

I'm into more casual (not necessarily easy or short) games, basically where exploration and finding secrets is the main aspect. I realise that this may not be the right place, but if anybody has suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I got it running on Fedora 25 with Mesa 17.0.5. It definitely runs smoother than the Windows version with Gallium Nine. Great job, Feral!

It struggles with my 770. I need to play with settings more or it is just early access woes or it is too beefy me.

Too much stuttering and freezes. Has potential if things get ironed out.

If it has the same permadeath mechanics as FTL won't be as addicting for me :)

My only gripe is them saying we get to explore cities.
Haven't seen much of that in the trailer , unless that station is the whole "city"

That's an entirely different issue by the sounds of it. This is something new with Unity 5.6 and full-screen games.

I've been hit by the full screen bug way before Unity 5.6. I recall I had this issue with Bionic Dues a year or so ago where the game would crash when I attempted to run it it in full screen mode but would work fine in windowed mode.
